So I got a pm today politely asking if I could do a photochop of this rather nice 123 pointing me to this thread. So I'm not sure if it's to your taste but I reckon if it was mine I'd be doing it similar to this. Hope you like it. original:

good solid example, what are your plans for her boet? Thanks man, I am going to keep her as is and just get her 100% where she needs it. I am enjoying this car a lot and have a great respect for these vehicles. My car is far better to drive that any hot hatch or suv......had both and will not change again.

Hi there, I would like to see yours, paste a linky here please. MB's were assembled in Port Elizabeth. I delivered a 200 AUTO for some client in 1991 and I was only 19 years old. I was really impressed with the car. I want ot keep my car as is and just enjoy it.

My first aid kit is also untouched, just like yours.
With regard to removing the instrument cluster, apparently it should just pull/push out but mine is stuck. I struggled for ages trying all manner of tricks and failed to remove it. Can't help you more with that one.
The tappets (lifters) are solid and adjustable on W123 spec M102 engines. Take a look on page 4 of my blog, where you'll find a photo of the valve gear, which I took when I removed the cam cover. If your engine is rattly for only a few seconds then goes quiet, the problem could be with the timing chain tensioner, which is not doing what it should be when oil pressure is low on start up. I suggest you look into this asap.
