For sale is my Saab 9-3 Coupe with the 185bhp high pressure turbocharged engine.
I have not owned the car for long and bought it from someone who was less than honest about its mechanical condition.
You can rest assured however that you will not have the same experience with me! Some people have no conscience…
ANYWAY…let me tell you about the car.
The Good
MOT until November 2012
Road tax until July 2012
Working front electric windows
Very clean interior
Clean bodywork
Recent brake pipes
Recent breather pipes
Recent Catalytic convertor
Tow bar with twin electrics
Only 95,000 miles
Heated front seats
Standard Saab CD player with working steering wheel controls
Remote central locking, alarm & immobiliser (remote requires battery)
MASSIVE folder full of history
Chain driven engine so no cam belt to worry about
The Bad
Electric wing mirrors don’t work (not investigated why!)
Badge is missing from the bonnet
N/S headlight wiper arm is out of time with the O/S one
O/S/F Tyre will want replacing soon (almost bald on the outside edge)
Info display has pixels missing (as they all seem to!)
A/C needs regassing
Remote needs a replacement battery
Small knock over bumps
The oil seals in the turbo are on their way out. The turbo still holds boost fine and pulls like a train but it smokes.
Syncro is weak on 2nd gear. It will happily select second gear, but only after 1st. It won’t let you directly select 2nd from any other gear.
Basically, I bought this car only a few weeks ago as a slightly fun daily runabout but the previous owner neglected to mention the gearbox or turbo issues, or the tyre which wants replacing.
To add insult to injury, the brakes failed on the drive home from me buying it. This turned out to be a pipe which had rubbed on the fuel tank and eventually worn through. That whole length of pipe has now been replaced and protected to prevent this happening again.
I love fettling with cars and I would love to keep the car and play about with it but I just need something to use as a daily driver at the moment without any major work being required which is why I’m selling the Saab. It handles very well and slams you back in your seat when the turbo kicks in. I just wish I had the space and time to keep it and play!
Collection much preferred from the Lincolnshire village of Martin (Post Code LN4 3QY) but I can deliver the car within reason, if arranged prior to committing to purchase.
Any questions, please post or phone me (Nathan) on 07843 488492.
