Slightly tatty but reliable Mk3 Astra GL in metallic green with Vauxhall alloys and sunroof.
115,000 miles. 1.6 engine, gets me 40+ mpg.
I use this car to get to work and it has never let me down. Everything works (except for a few things mentioned below).
Comes with Sony CD player/radio. The radio only picks up static, but this is probably because the aerial is not connected to the unit (it needs a short adapter lead), and also because some oik snapped the aerial off.
5mths tax, 3mths MOT. There were two advisories on the last MOT, one for slightly corroded rear brake pipe, and one for slight leak of exhaust gasses from centre section. On the plus side, the tester told me that it's a very solid car.
EDIT: Now with 12mths MOT. Tester told me again that it's a very solid car. The advisory for the slight exhaust leak is still there, but the corroded brake pipe seems to have fixed itself........
Bodywork has a few small dents and scuffs, interior is presentable but a bit scruffy.
It had no service history from the previous owner, but since owning it I have:
New front tyres and tracking done around 1500miles ago
Just changed oil, oil filter, and air filter.
Had two chips in the windscreen repaired.
Today I noticed that the air hose from the airbox to inlet has got a hole in it, if the car doesn't sell for a while I might get around to getting a replacement. EDIT: fixed!
Also, the steering wheel isn't on straight. I noticed this after taking it to get the tracking done, and the bloke in the garage told me that they couldn't free off one of the track rod ends so had to compensate by leaving the steering wheel like that. The car doesn't pull to one side any more, so I wasn't too annoyed, but I won't be going back there.
Finally, I should mention this but it's not really a problem (I don't think). The engine seems to run pretty cold - when it's fully warmed up the temperature needle is usually still in or near the blue part of the dial. This worried me a bit when I first got it, so I kept an eye on the coolant levels. I've since used the car every day with no problems, it's never needed the coolant topping up, and the rad is hot after a run, so I figured it's nothing too serious.
I can also throw in a set of new NGK spark plugs and a Haynes manual if you're interested.
Pics to follow.
£350 ono - make me an offer! I want to get rid of it and get something more interesting.
