Known issues, brakes buggered, heater channels fooked! I I am going to purchase it, as a suprise for the mrs, also to be a practise car for welding! Any advise on bits needed would be advantageous! £300! tax exempt 1303!

Top grammar tips! Bought = purchased. Brought = relocated Lose = misplace/opposite of win. Loose = your mum

I'm surprised you weren't given that tbh - no-one wants rusty 1303s.
Heater channels are a bigish job to do properly. Also, check the frame head. It's £300 for a new one (£500+ if you don't want a shonky repro).

i had a 1303 which rotted badly. the little old lady before me had taken it to the same garage, year after year, and they'd spooged another inch of mastic into the heater channel and MoT'ed it. Framehead was also a bit holey so when the battery almost fell through the floor i decided its time was up - hence if you do buy it i know where there's a great pile of 1303 bits Is it already tax exempt or has the seller just said "yeah mate, it's a 1972 innit" as there's very very few exempt 1303s... most of the 1972 built ones were USA-market, mine was a very early one and it was built 14th Jan 1973 having said all that, they're a cracking little drive, better handling than a regular beetle and i reckon they'll go on to get even higher 'retro' status than the normal bug since they're the unloved cousin, the ones that get broken for the IRS back end (and gearbox if it's a 1600 which that one ain't).

^LOLz^ Seriously, I think that will deffo be a money pit. Want to 'cool up' Cat's transport situation? Here's what I'd do, Russ..... 1) Purchase those COOL BBS rims GoapherBoy has for sale 2) Detail wheels as necesary 3) Purchase 'PhilJ special' suspension set for your lovely lady's Polo 4) Get some clear lenses etc. Bosh it all together in a couple of hours for a sweet little ride, and everyone's happy
