	Some starter solenoid advice please. Modern BMW engine into a Triumph, the Triumphs starter motor had it's solenoid mounted on the wing near the near engine. Is the barrel shaped thing on top of the BMW starter motor with 2 large terminals and 1 smaller one the solenoid? And it's wired in essentially the same way as the Triumph one? The BMW had a 5 amp fuse labelled “starter”, this is for the solenoid, not the starter motor? And is it worth adding a relay from the starter switch to the solenoid? Thanks, just need a thought process reality check!

	no, theres no point! the solenoid is in fact just a large relay, and as it runs through a 5amp fuse it is well within the current draw of the wire, and yes the connections are the same, its only that it is piggy back on the BMW as it moves the starter pinnion as well, and not remote!

	Thanks, was thinking myself in circles there! Had a look at the solenoid today and it's got 2 small connections, not 1. The 2nd small connector feeds to the "unloader" relay, this had me scratching my head for a bit, turns out to be a relay that's live when the starter operates and shuts off all non- essential power supplies, so the starter gets max power. Won't worry about that, the Triumph has non-power everything!
