FIRE UP ZE LAND SHARK!
If you’re looking for a genuinely every-day usable classic car with none of the compromise check out my E28! It’s comfortable, practical, economical, will cruise at 85mph in pin-drop silence and is totally reliable. I’d planned on this being a keeper (read on at the massive amount of work I’ve done and cash-money I’ve spent) but another car came along I couldn’t resist…I’ve got problems!
The car is a proper time warp with 3 owners on the log book: The Bank, the Bank manager they gave it to as a retirement present and then his wife. No, really. This is genuine executive transport with the log-book provenance to prove it!
History:
LOTS! Every dealer stamp is present from PDI until it was recomissioned. I bought it from a guy who rebuild VW Campers who had changed every fluid front to back and even changed the clutch to ensure it was perfect following being dry-stored for 9 years in a garage by the Bank Manager’s wife.
It sailed it’s MOT (the MOT man took pictures for his wall as it was one of the nicest he’d seen!) and has ticket until: 27th September and also Tax until September.
Since buying it I’ve completed a further full service only a couple of thousand miles ago including: Oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, fuel system treatment, spark plugs and leads.
Other work includes new rear drum shoes and wheel cylinders including a full brake fluid change. I’ve also replaced the all the front suspension bushes including front and rear track control arms (this was over £200!!!). In short the car now drives beautifully as you would expect from a gentleman’s chariot. I also sourced and fitted new rear bumper corners;. These rot like mad and are hen’s teeth. This car now has 2 good bumpers. If you’re super critical I’d recommend you get them powdercoated/ polished for perfection. Following all this I filled the underside of the car with Waxoil to keep it mint for years to come.
Modifications:
I’ve been sympathetic in this respect because of the car’s history and not wanting to cut it about. Suspension has been converted to coilovers including shortened front damper inserts. I specified the optional 5-series M-Tec spring rates so the car rides as it should. The only other modification are the wheels which are real-deal BBS RC90s which have been beautifully refurbished. All four tyres are also mint! The front is fitted with sexy TPI hub-centric spacers and all wheels have the correct spigot rings and locking wheels bolts. Other than that I’ve just added pressed plates.
This car has been my daily driver and it’s perfect. Not a rattle or squeek, it’s a real gentleman’s express. Everything runs smooth and as new: It’s done 82k miles – that’s not even run in! It does have a few marks (a spot of lacquer lift on the boot lid being the worst) and car park dinks and the driver’s seat is a bit worn as you’d expect of a car this age, but the paint is good and it looks amazing. Viewing is highly recommended.
The best bit is it’s a 518i so it’s light (1160kgs) and Economical if not fast (though it’s not as slow as you’d imagine!). 37mpg is very real and cruising at motorway speeds an above is effortless. Fancy a European roadtrip this summer: YOU NEED THIS CAR!
Any questions, or if you want to view, drop me a line:

The car is located 2mins from Junction 10 of the M42 (Tamworth).
It will also come with a set of original steel wheels and a set of E24 alloys with good (metric) tyres.
Price-wise I'm looking for £2250 ono
