...OK it's actually my Bond, but there are more Herald owners out there, and it's essentially the same!
I'm considering taking the body off the Bond to sort the bodywork out. How do I do this? What do I need to remove?
I've searched t'internet but I've not found any "how to" guides or anything. I'm assuming it comes off in two sections - the roof and rear body, along with the floor up to the back edge of the front footwells as one part, and the bulkhead, screen frame and front footwells as another section.

So I looked a bit harder and found this. No photos but it all seems to make sense. It may have put me off taking my body off though. I'll see how far I get with it on...

if you want to sort the body like welding etc best doing it attached as otherwise it will warp etc very easily.....

Never taken mine off tbh so can't really help, but from what I've seen it's just a case of removing all hoses, pipes and cables and undo a few bolts. What bits are you looking to gain access to?

when i did mine years ago I took the doors off then made up bracing from old Dexion which bolted onto the hinge mountings and the door striker. this made sure that the door gaps were the same when the body went back on. The handbrake cable is a bit fiddly but the rest isn't too bad.

The only one I've done is the parts car we scrapped. That was a convertible so had no roof to get in the way and obviously I wasn't really bothered about it needing to go back together either...
I'd suggest trying to keep it all in one piece too, if you can. Its not prevented me from fixing most of ours. Obviously you've got the additional fibreglass to work around though I've no idea how/where the Bond panels are attached to the steel.

Thanks for the replies. The main part I need access to at the moment is the top of the windscreen surround, but I'm hoping I can just detatch the roof and gain enough room to cut and weld if needed. 'Course, on the Bond the roof is part of the rear tub, but I'm hoping I'll get enough movement. The chassis will need some work and I worry that I'll not be able to replace outriggers and the like without removing the body, not to mention examining the top sides of the chassis rails. I think I'll see how I go with it all in one piece though, as it does look a bit of a headache, especially considering the fibreglass. Could be a right can of worms!
