I've been told a 1800cvh sump fits a zetec?
Can this be true?
I've a 1800 cvh btm end and it has a metal sump on it. The sump to me looks like a 1600cvh sump but can this be?
Can you put a 1600cvh sump on a 1800 cvh?
Can you put a 1800cvh sump on a zetec?
I'm confused !

1600/1800 cvh sumps have the bowl at different ends and the oil pick up pipe is different but they are swappable ,as for the cvh sump on a zetec why?

1800 (sierra) CVH sump amd pickup pipe fits the zetec silver top with a couple of minor mods. The sierra 1.6CVH sump does not (its a wierd half alloy half tin thing), and the black top engine is different enough for the CVH sump to not fit at all.
Not sure about the escort ones - never tried tbh. The reason for the swap is usually because you want to fit the zetec in a RWD configuration so you need a rwd style sump (hence the 1800 sierra).

......and the black top engine is different enough for the CVH sump to not fit at all. ...... Why? My blacktop is using a Silvertop sump. And if the CVH fits the silvertop, why shouldn't a CVH fit? You need to remove the alu ladder part of the blacktop sump tho.  |

The oil pump is the problem - on the silvertop you can get the CVH sump to clear it with a little hammer adjustment but on the blacktop it's further over and in the way. CVH pickup pipe won't fit either. Maybe in your case the silvertop sump has more room than the CVH and the blacktop pickup pipe is in use?
caveat - I only tried to fit a CVH sump to a blacktop once, and it was about 3 years ago...

Yep the CVH hits the oil pump where it bolts to the block, you can bash it it out but it really needs heating or it distorts and even then it gets a bit thin around that area so it doesn't allways work IME |
