Ive had to import some headlamp bowls for my type 1 DAF 44 from Dafhobby in Holland. No problems there they are very good and ive ordered from them several times without issue. This time it hasn't gone so well, I recieved an email yesterday asking if I had recieved the parts yet, which I haven't, because Dafhobby have received mail from DPD telling them there is a problem with the delivery but not specifying what! Now the loss of a few euros I'm quite happy to take on the chin its not the sellers fault, the bigger problem is the parts. They where his last set, I cant get them from anyone in the UK or from the DAF club Nederland. I need them to make the car road legal as I cant align the headlamps without them. Arrgghh. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to proceed? Alternative parts that might fit, and more to the point do you have any hiding in your garage? Thanks in advance Paul p.s. a wee bit of penance + Car buff points to anyone who knows about the car in the first and last pictures, lets just say it was thinking well ahead of its time.

Presumably you or the vendor have a delivery tracking number? Get that and get onto DPD. Find out what the problem is.

Nope but in 1967 would have been equally as ground breaking and you could drive it on water.

Hydrogen fuel cell Daf 44? Forward thinking from Daf, or lack of imagination from everyone else?

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Hydrogen fuel cell and electric motors. In 1967! think they are lucky it could only go 50mph, if it had of hit 88mph who know what would of happened

Thats a million and one points you for getting it that quickly. The car was converted to run on Hydrogen fuel cells by Shell oils of all people and is one of the very first examples of it being considered as a replacement for petrol. The car above still exists but is kept out of public sight in the archives of the science museum in London. I really do wish they would put it on display. The idea was shelved as it was considered that it couldn't be made competitive with a regular 44. Science Museum Wiki

How big are the headlights? Can you not use Mini bowls to ft? They have the adjusters in them!

Mrs_Seth went to look at that Daf when she was doing her masters degree. As that wiki says, Daf had nothing to do with it as a manufacturer, it was built by a research establishment. I think they used a Daf because of the variomatic transmission though.

Mini headlamps are about an inch bigger. Mk1 44s have smaller headlamps than all the other models, I believe 5 and 3/4 inch. these are the parts, I don't much fancy trying to make them from scratch, but I suppose at a push I could do them out of fibreglass using the old rotten ones as moulds.

What about Volvo 144/164 headlamp bowls?
Who made the originals? Cibie, Hella etc.?
FYI, you can drive any car on water, just most of them sink! LOL!

Sorry to hear about your parts - if they've been misdelivered they'll probably turn up on ebay . . .
Seriously, hope they arrive eventually

I had a set of mint vintage fog lights disappear from a tracked service once. I got a full refund but its just annoying that the parts never got to their intended destination.

Selling quite a bit of stuff off via ebay my 'lost in the post' rate has gone up from about 2 or 3% to nearly 10% on a couple of occasions. The worst one was sent 11 packets to same address only 6 made it!
