as some of you may remember i bought the 1970s mini clubman rallycross set a couple of weeks ago.well it turned up last friday, and shall we say it wasnt exactly as described.
to quote the seller "both cars have just been serviced", "a real gem to race with".hmmm.
firstly, their idea of a service was to put new braids on the cars.
secondly, it may have been a real gem to race with 30 years ago.neither of the cars worked and the ends of the track needed to be manipulated to allow the cars to pass through it.
this car needed 2 of the wires soldering back on before it would run.
the motor is burnt out in this one.
a trip into the attic later, to dig out the 2 cars i already had, and i have now got 3 running cars and most of the track sorted to run them on.only need to re-solder the wires for the cross over sections.
the clubby i already had.
the other car, a metro, i have painted up for the kids to use.
as it started
primed
done
slater, eat your heart out!!! ;D
I'm getting a bit carried away with this scalextric business, last nights purchase
so all that i need to do now is sort a motor out for the metro and tyres for all of the minis and i/ the kids will be ready to roll.
i must say, it makes a change doing resto work on 30 year old cars in the warmth of the house.
