Oi regular ebayers! What happens if you buy something fragile like headlamps on ebay and the numpty seller ships them with absolutely NO protection (ie loose in a cardboard box with loads of space for them to bounce around) and they are broke en route.
I guess a decent seller should admit they were stupid and refund. Does egay regard this as sellers fault in dispute resolution or have I been stiffed by the system?

I think you've most likely got one up there, you can launch a complaint but even if you are successful you will only get back the sale price minus £15 ebay extortion fee, the result of which is usually a negative amount anyway. Best you can do is neg the guys ass and try to get him put on the sex offenders register.

Isn't there a standard compensation from Royal Mail (if that's who delivered them)? I think it's about £20 - better than a kick in the nads. If he insured them then you should get the value of the items back.
As for the seller, I think the only thing to do is to neg his dozy ass into next week... I'd do that after getting compensated from the shippers though, as you may need his assistance regarding receipts etc...

I guess...but I think Royal Mail would be well within their rights to say that it was so poorly shipped that damage was unavoidable. I can't see that they have been negligent. honestly why do some people have soap for brains, or do they do it for a laugh. Took a while to prise shipping out of him too so he wasn't exaclty on the ball their either.

item was probably bust before shipping - put all the pieces in the parcel and hope ypou will accept it
if you have signed for it - demand a refund
if you havent signed for it - tell the seller it hasnt turned up - and demand a refund
either way - you shouldn't have to lose out because the seller is a chump

Didn't sign for it as I was out when Parcel Force delivered it so they left it outside the office on the stairs. However part of PF's terms are that items MUST be adequately packed, which this was not. Sellers gone all quiet now!!! Cost me £58 including postage so I don't want to loose all that!!
