I'd like to thank all of the posters above for their comments about my car, it's most appreciated. The long long hours spent on it in the garage are made worthwhile when other people recognise the time, money and effort that's gone into it.
It is my first car, owned since I was 16, some 19 years ago. Many classics, including several Anglias, have come and gone since but I've refused to sell my original one. Now all the other cars have gone it's getting the attention it deserves.
Marc's a b*gger really, he's taken these pictures of it before I've finished it! I have loads of jobs still to be done, swap the Lotus rims for powder-coated ones, heater box needs repainting, temperature sender needs moving away from the exhaust manifold, rad fan needs moving, bumpers are going to be re-chromed, rear over-riders need fitting, radio panel needs fitting (with hidden modern DAB stereo behind), hidden speakers in the rear, complete Dynamat soundproofing inside, oh, and I want to raise the height up a bit more with new front struts.
And apart from anything, it needs a good clean, inside and out!
Many thanks again.

I have loads of jobs still to be done, complete Dynamat soundproofing inside, Don't get too carried away with that stuff, I think dynomat is made of depleted uranium. If you use too much of it the car will be that heavy, not even a Lotus engine will be able make it move. Car is absolutely beautiful BTW. ;D

Awesome car. Hoping my MGB will come out looking half as good Regarding sound deadening; there is no point in covering panels completly. Search for sound deadener show down and you'll find a site that explains how to get the proper results with minimum material use. Wouldn't want to weigh down such a nice car with unneeded weight

Sorry for the delay but it's taken a while to re-sort all my digital photos. To be honest the needed sorting so it's helped me in a way. Here are a good selection from the time it became my sole classic car (again), and started to get sole attention of my time and money. The earliest photo I have, from 1994, with my mum doing a who's that over there pose. Skip forward to 2009, just before I moved house. Three pictures of the new front suspension being fitted. The welding starts... The stripping of the paint starts... Even with half the paint gone I made sure I could still use it. Off to the bodyshop. Fuel tank before. Fuel tank stripped. Fuel tank red oxided. Fuel tank painted and half under-sealed. Rear silencer wrapped so it doesn't bubble the paint on the side of the fuel tank like it used to do. Works a treat, you can hold the silencer with the engine running hot. My restored dash, just as it passes 00000.0 A bodge I found that someone had done on my car. Tip: When making a connection between the two heaviest cables on the whole car (the charging circuit from the alternator), twisting them together then wrapping some electrical tape around them isn't enough... New off-set strut tops being fitted. Refurbed Styla steering wheel. Down on Mudeford Quay for the meet: www.mudefordmeet.co.ukThe new engine being built up. The old engine before removal. The engine bay painted. Don't leave your car un-attended for too long at Read Performance www.readperformance.co.uk/, otherwise you get ganged up on by the J lovers! They do keep stock of several joke decals, for all car types! Engine nearly done. And as it looks today, on display as part of the Southampton Motor Show.

Very nice looking work. So, how fast does it now go with the Lotus Twin Cam? A bit faster than the 90 mph that the speedo goes up to, I'll bet.
