Spotted this little delight for sale... 1978 Chrysler Newport 400 coupe, thats a 6.6 big block folks, and the price is right. Although I have no money, I would probably have to sell the Oldsmobile to get it. However the Olds needs transmission work and a repaint. But I do very much like the olds. But its a 4 door sedan and this is 2 door coupe, and thus much groovier. Also dig the red vinyl kinky interior. I prefer the Olds in a lot of ways but this Chrysler is a lot less work to make into a nice car.... Hmmm.... if the Olds was a 2 door there would be no issue, I'd probably never sell it.... So how much of a fools errand is this one? ;D and the Oldsmobile... Hmmmm.... Might have to go have a look at the Chrysler and see if it has the "x-factor" in the flesh... I'm thinking drop the nose down about 3" bang it on some Cragars or Astros, red band radials, loud exhausts and a general tune-up and de-emission it all.

The Olds is a cooler car. However it needs a fair amount of work, one of which being a rebuilt transmission... It is also a known decent car, and I know the various things which are wring with it (windows that don;t wind down, that sort of thing). The Newport is an unknown quantity. It claims to have 25K original miles and maybe everything works, or maybe it doesn't... Even just throwing away those cheapo plastic hubcaps will make it look 10 times better. The Olds is a 4 door though and no matter how you look at it that makes it a bit of a dad's car. The 2 door coupe you can pretend is a proper muscle car (even though it isn't)

Both. But get rid of those wheel trims off the Chrysler. No money or space for both. I already own 4 yank tanks!

I prefer the 4 door look. Looks more sleek and low to the ground.
Those wheel trims on the chrysler are offensive!! I feel bad for the car that it should be humiliated in such a way!
As you say you could be taking on more troubles
Better the devil you know etc etc.

I'd keep the Olds too. I think it's a far better looking car. And this is gonna sound really girly, but I prefer the colour of your Oldsmobile! At least you know what's wrong with the Olds and can fix it. The Newport might have all manner of thinks ready to go wrong!

newport 2 door olds 4 door. Also Kojack styling is cooler as it's less obviously a classic. Sell sell sell, buy buy buy!

The more I look at the two cars, the more I worry that you've lost your marbles AK! I know nowt about Yank iron, but just going on aesthetics, the Oldsmobile kicks its ass. OK it's 4 door, but to me that don't make much difference. I'd definitely stick with it.

My first thought but not as funny ;D Keep its swingin sixties! or sell summat to release some project fund! I appear to have a similar problem. i want to replace add to the whole fleet with wedges of cheese on wheels! no helping me either!

I think that the big green 4-dr thingy is 83 times cooler than the big reddish 2-dr thingy.
That is my professional synopsis.

I'm assuming the Olds is a 98, as it's the same colour as your sig... It's waaay cooler than the red one, and you can always put in one of them fancy air suspension rigs and bounce it around with Public Enemy's "You're gonna get yours" blasting out ;D Keep the 98, four doors don't matter, it's got class!!

Got to be the Olds for me, always admired it and four doors is no bad thing on a such a fine automobile.
The styling of the other one looks like it's desperately trying to hang on to the 'big car look', but failing with overly heavy head light surrounds etc. The Olds is fine and lithe, but...
Uh oh, getting carried away. Your choice either way, and as always I'll just marvel at what you find attractive ;D
