hehe well only a little one,... My holiday was great,.. now to the cars. There are an unreasonable number of Renault 4s on the road in Ibiza. Along with Alfa 33s,.. which was ace. There seemd to be a car of some sort sitting unused in fields all over the North of the island. Like this (just yards from my hotel) any ideas what they are :

A BMC seems likely, but I don't know if a 500 would be slightly smaller than that? I thought it was a 600, but I'm no expert either, I'm probably talking curse word!

I think that van might be an Ebro. The car is likely to be a Seat 600 I reckon.

Another place to go for old motors is Malta. Must go some time soon, apparently there are still plenty of Hillman Imps!

Forgot to say there were plenty of Fiat/Seat 500/600s around the place as well,.. covered in dust (but then our car was caked in dust by the end of the week,...) My thought on the van is that it could be one of those Fiat/Seat campers, which I don't know the name of ,.. Thought the little one might be an 850.

Do you mean a Fiat Amigo? I reckons it's too big to be one of those.

You're right, it's one of those. Quite similar to the Barkas B1000, which had a Wartburg engine until the later models, which used the engine from the mk1 VW Golf. ( from This one fits into the retro emergency vehicles theme too!

Got back from Italy yesterday, saw loads of mint Alfa 33s and 75s. Sneaked out one morning and took a few pictures.... Loads of these still around This seemed to be at some sort of used car place, had no engine or gearbox in it. Saw this at a tyre fitters, there was rough looking blue Taunus hiding behind some bins to the left.

So I see! A shilloutte racer body by the looks of it, (ie fibreglass shell and panels on a spaceframe chassis, usually with an Imp 998 and running gear, which is more than enough in something so light! These fibreglass bodied Volvo NH12s are interesting too. Or maybe they'd be the 16 litre NH16 chassis? That'd be frightening, the 16 litre Volvo engine can have as many as 580bhp in standard tune with emmisions gear on!

Thank goodness it's not just me. I recieved endless heckling about taking these photos in Tenerife, so I gave up in the end, feeling daft and ashamed... Loads of retro stuff around, but the only photos worth keeping were these: (i'm a dreadful photographer) Seat/Fiat/Lada thingy, in a beach car-park Seat 5(6?)00 near our apartment block. Just behind it is a Brit numberplated Volvo 750 Turbo. Just up round the corner was an ancient BMW 520. What struck me about any of the cars more than a few years old was the fact that they all seemed to be the performance version- the only late model escorts we saw were the RS2000 version etc... Again, there were loads of Seat/Fiat 500/600s, and the number of Seat Pandas was amazing. (Not Seat Marbellas either- the first model Panda with the asymetric grill, basically with the fiat badge ripped off, and a Seat one stuck on!) The holiday was quite nice too...

He's right, Ladas are similar but look like this... Early Zhiguli model Later Riva model A better equipped 2107 1.7 injection model. <all from The 124 was similar but the Lada was made entirely in Russia with no Fiat parts at all, just the designs for many parts were the same and bought from Fiat. I take it you mean a 740 turbo, or even 760 turbo, they never made a 750, just an 850. Looks a lot like a 740 to me, but a few 760s were made with that nose.

I'm 90% sure the volvo had a 750 badge on the back, because it struck me as unusual. Having said that, there is every chance i misread it due to sunstroke and/or alcohol consumption...

The badge on a 760 might easily be mistaken, it's just the size and font that looks like that from a distance, but I'm absolutely sure that no Volvo 750s were made, unless someone's put that badge on there themselves. There was a four cylinder 740, six cylinder (and rare diesel) 760, and the two door Bertone designed 780.
