Hi all, I have got a pair of Mercedes SLK spacesaver spare wheels sat in my garage. They have a calapsable, tempary use tyre fitted, that is a 155/70-16. I was wondering if it was possible to get a normal tyre that would fit these alloys? my reason for this is, I'm entering my W123 280E in the PPC £999 challenge, and for the drag runs I was thinking of fitting some narrow wheels up front, to reduce drag(I need all the help I can get!!). But because I've fitted 560SEC front brakes, the standard 14" steels won't fit the front any more. I hope somebody can help. Cheers Frank.

Depends what the profile of the safety humps are. For instance the wheels that are on the Bini with the runflat tyres are not designed for conventional tyres. What does it say on the wheel size stamped on the wheel. For instance 4.5x16 ET49 H2. The H2 is reference to the wheel profile and therefore confirm suitability.

165/40 16 is the smallest available IIRC

Thanks guts for the replies, they've given me plenty to think about...
I've had a look today, the rim says it's a 4.5x16 H2.
I think a 165/40 16 should fit, I'll have to find 1 and have a trail fit.
I don't know if Smart car front tyres are any narrower, I know the Brabus alloys are 16's, so maybe the front tyres might be worth a look too.

I have 125/65/16 V rated tyres that could be suitable.
