It's to be turned into a V6 sleeper. See Jonny's YouTube channel for the videos: Edit to add - unless you mean the white one? That was pulled out of a garage by Jonny in one of his other videos - titled something like "a rare barn find that no-one cares about!" Thanks for that Morris, it was the White one I was referring too. But I will watch that video later. the white 1 is an Allegro ss

So… I dipped in to this post about midway through to say something like good luck or similar.
That was probably back in 2016 or so. I’ve finally done the entire thread start to finish. Roughly where in Kent are you? I’m down in east Kent near Canterbury, with a y reg Vitesse that I’m making little progress on. Wish I had your skills and ability to do it.
I actually found a couple of pictures of my car prior to my ownership from some of your photos of a show you took the drift car too, which I’ve shamelessly stolen.

I’m near Tonbridge but was born in Canterbury. Happy to come visit and try and help with advice if needed?

Love some advice and support from someone with your knowledge about SD1’s and skills.
Mine isn’t road legal though so I couldn’t bring it to you and you’re about an hour and a half from me. (Literal opposite ends of the county) That’s a big ask. Of course, bacon rolls and liquid refreshments can be provided if that sweetens the deal?

robbo86,
I'm a previous SD1 owner and a big fan of jimspolicev8sd1, although I don't have anything like his knowledge and skills, and would be happy to help labour-wise particularly in shifting large inanimate objects into place such as engines and gearboxes into place. I'm in Herne Bay, so not so very far away.... Feel free to contact me.

At the moment my priority is getting the garage sorted and comfortable to be in in cold weather, then I’m going to try press on.

To have followed this build thread right from day one....and then years later, see the finished car on one of my favourite T.V shows, is just mind blowing for me! I can only imagine how stoked you must have been about it. When last nights episode started and they announced they were off to collect an SD1, I instantly wondered if you would be watching. But then to see your car featured moments later was brilliant! I literally jumped out of my seat and shouted at everyone round me that "I know that car!". Well....it has to said, that the misses and kids weren't as excited about it as I was. But nonetheless, I paused the T.V and educated them on the back ground of your SD1. I've said it before...and I'll say it again, this thread still stands as my favourite. Without sounding like a total creep, it's because of this thread that I was able to keep going with my truck. When enthusiasm was low....I would just go back through this thread for mind over matter inspiration....and off I'd go again. I see so many projects that get started and then just stop for whatever reason ( I'm not knocking anyone...I totally get why it happens) I remember being doubtful... but hopefull, about you finishing the project in the early days of the thread. Well....you didn't disappoint. It really is a fantastic car and full credit to you for what you have achieved and where this project has taken you. I've also been following your diesel SD1 restoration.....no pressure....but I' have high hopes for that one as well 😄 . Just a quick question, obviously you lent the car out for filming, but did you help with any other aspect of that episode?....like advice on how to reconstruct an SD1 using your knowledge gained from your build and where to find parts etc? .....and of course...I assume you got to meet Fuzz and Tim?

Thank you very much for the kind words. Very much appreciated! Yeah i was super excited to be involved. Ive been approached previously for some other tv stuff, including Bangers and Cash, but they wanted me to drive from Kent to North Yorkshire, and they werent going to pay for my fuel, or a hotel or even a sandwich! This one i was more than happy to do as i love the concept of the show and the idea that it was helping someone. Its funny you say calling other people into the room, i called my wife in and she faked mild interest but really didnt give a monkeys, but for me it was a big achievement as not for me, but more for the car, if they have spirits, it really enjoyed the hammering up to wales (i don't drive it gently) and its moment in the limelight. My Dad was more impresed. He has Nat Geo on HD so i saw it there today. He was chuffed. It was super interesting seeing how the programme was put together and all teh logistics. Ill do a longer reply later and some more photos as I'm cooking dinner, but just wanted to say thanks now to your comments! James

James having found your channel on you tube and watching the Dotty and turbo diesel videos on both the SD1’s have inspired me to finally find a SD1 which I pick up at the end of the month, The SOS SD1 episode was great what an honour for you to get the SD1 featured testament to all your hard work and dedication, Your talent and knowledge on the SD1’s is amazing nothing phases you, I love these cars after my father had 3 of these when I was growing up through the eighties can’t wait now to pick up my my first SD1👍 Keep up the good work James you should be super proud of all your restorations looking forward to the turbo diesel rebuild videos, The new paint looks amazing👌🙌 Cheers Chris
