Thanks Rhys. Your timing is good as ive only just started going back through and re-hosting all the photos. I think I have a couple more pages of links to restore and then it will be complete again.
The garage has been invaluable. There's no way I could have undertaken a project like this without it. Shame I now live 1 hour away from it, id have got this done a lot sooner otherwise.

Great progress. The car is looking so good now. I've just been looking through some old photos and came across another one of this car. It was taken on the A5209 at Newburgh, Lancashire in February, 1987.

As ever, the updates on the car are as fantastic as the car and progress itself. So looking forward to seeing it finished, but at the same time it'll be such a shame that it's over.
I've been busy the last few weeks Jim, but I'm still trying to source a couple of radio aerials for you. Finger's crossed. The recent service pics of it are superb, although it's a shame Lancon never did a full length stripe on their cars at this time.
Any chance someone could post a link to the previously mentioned P5B resto? That'd be good to read too.

Victor from this forum has tracked down and provided a period correct PYE aerial. I'll post some pictures up on the weekend. It looks the right sort of length when compared to those shown in the photos above. But I'll need some help finding a second one, or at least one very similar.

Hating to repeat things but this restoration is very compelling. The service photos too are brilliant, it's all part of its history. I'm as excited as you are to see it home and getting fitted back up.

I took the afternoon off from work ready to receive the car. I got the Rover 827 and the driftcar out of the garage and under outdoor car covers and then I tidied the garage up. Then I waited. Then I waited some more.. Then a bit more waiting followed by some pacing... That continued whilst I made observations that it was getting dark, and then it started raining. Balls. Finally the transporter showed up, but it was a 7.5T monster and wouldn't fit up the lane. So my Dad and I had to unload it and then tow it up the road in the rain, in the dark and the strong winds back to the garage. This doesn't sound that much of a drama, but remember there is no steering and no brakes!!! Anyway. It is finally back in the garage, and not too wet. The paint looks fantastic. I have to say a massive thank you to Mike, Dave and Dale at Strada Automotive for putting so much hard work into the car. They were up till 2 am last night doing the final touches. Transporter arrives. A first glimpse. Back in the garage. I couldn't resist putting the roof beacon on!

Don't think I've mentioned before but this is simply great. I always hope there is an update on this but seeing the latest in service pics are just out this world.
I have a friend that was ex L&B and he said the SD1's were good pieces of kit. Two conversations always stick in my mind, one is likening turning a V70 to turning a barracuda and the second is when he was doing his driver training he was in the rear of a SD1 that was rolled by a fellow student. He remembered feeling his shirt wet and initially thinking but then realising it was not with petrol but with tea out a flask in the boot !

It must be absolutely terrifying, being driven at high speeds on the public roads, whilst someone is 'learning'. Its bad enough being a passenger around the Nurburgring, or drifting. I woke up this morning realising that the next logical step in this restoration is cavity wax anti-rust treatment, before the wiring loom and trim go back in. So far all I have is 1 can of Bilthamber Dynax S50. Its supposed to be the nuts. See this article here. www.bilthamber.com/media/downloads/PG-BH13-001.pdfHowever, the Dinitrol also gets really good reviews (can second in the test against Dynax s50) and can be applied using a compressor and down a longer feed tube so I have ordered 6 cans and an application lance thing. Wish I had thought of all this before. I'm also still trying to source some of the bulkhead and floor insulation panels. I would like to find original parts if possible, but they are so fragile, and perceived as not having any value that they get damaged or just thrown away when a shell is scrapped.

Yes, how impartial it is I don't know. I think the study was funded by Bilthamber.
