I cheated a bit on my old Rover- I bought some flexi-pipe ridiculously cheap. 2.5" diameter for £5!



Made the muffler myself too... this is how much space was around the perforated pipe for fibreglass wadding



End result looked good, and did the job nicely!





On my scimitar, I reused a mid-box from an old Citroen XM, but made a basic downpipe with flexi for it

I've adapted two different back boxes to fit my Scirocco in the past, as well as having made the downpipe when I did the Turbo Diesel conversion. I can't find any photos of the backbox right now, but both used a simple inward rolled 2.5" exit that exited through the standard cutout at about 45deg, so it filled the cutout that was originally for a twin pipe.

It exited the turbo a 2.5", then stepped down about 3mm per joint in it, so it was nearly the right size to just link onto the 1 7/8" aftermarket mk1 golf GTI centre section by the time it got under the car.
