Hello all, Just thought this would be a good one, I would like to see some pics of home made exhausts systems. Currently bought all the parts from Demon Tweeks to make my own side exit, interested to what other people have done! May shed some light on any hurdles I/others may run into when attempting such a thing I will post mine as soon as I have had a go!!! ;D Sorry don't have any of my own pictures to post

I would also add - a side exit on a car that's even mildly low to the floor, reduces your ground clearance to half the width of a gnat's testicle....
Speed bumps in the Rover were a no-no!

I've adapted two different back boxes to fit my Scirocco in the past, as well as having made the downpipe when I did the Turbo Diesel conversion. I can't find any photos of the backbox right now, but both used a simple inward rolled 2.5" exit that exited through the standard cutout at about 45deg, so it filled the cutout that was originally for a twin pipe. This is the downpipe: It exited the turbo a 2.5", then stepped down about 3mm per joint in it, so it was nearly the right size to just link onto the 1 7/8" aftermarket mk1 golf GTI centre section by the time it got under the car.

Great stuff, thanks chaps useful info and good ideas here! Figured when I exit the exhaust out the side I will keep the one and only silencer tucked well under the car. Bought a 45 degree bend to exit the car think if I mitre the end then I can weld on a piece of pipe tight to the sill keeping it nice and neat
