Have a mk1 golf gti cab on an f plate with the 1.8 KR (?) motor in it,basically the hydraulic lifter mk1 gti engine.
Now,when I bought it the plan was always to ditch it for something silly but I have a sierra Cossie for that and want the golf to be a bit closer to standard than putting say a 20vT monster or even my original choice of VR6 lump.
I'm thinking 2.0l bottom end and perhaps twin 40's/45's but I'm not sure if this is a bit old skool now as bike carbs seem more common but how do these compare to the old bad boys?
I love the sound of a carb'd motor plus of course the general simplicity.
The paintworks done on the car and it's 100% solid just the crappy k-jet letting it down really plus of course any spares I get for the k-jet are a million years old now anyway so time to move with the times.
I'm guessing at a fuel reg to control the pressure from the k-jet pump or fit a new facet(??) type, but how does the ignition side of it work?can you use the original k-jet stuff or better to swap to aftermarket?manifolds, are these off the shelf of will I need to machine one up,none of which is an issue but I'd like to know before I start.
Just trying something a little different to the norm really.
And to say I'm more than competent at any wiring/mechanical/fabricating involved.
Your thoughts are again most welcome.
Have a big engine as thanks!!!
