A random question - is my clutch slipping..?
My knowledge of when a clutch slips - put car in 3rd, riding along at low revs and gun it.. If it slips straight away....its slipping..
OK so this is what I'm getting.. I'm in any gear.. gun it.. no slipping.. then once it gets to around 3k it slips..
Or perhaps its something else?
Ive just had fitted a SMF (going from DMF) and uprated carbon kevlar clutch (handles up to 500 torques)
Sorry as the car is my daily modern..

what is SMF DMF ?
sounds like the clutch is slipping but only where there is a lot of torque. not a lot of torque at low revs but quite a bit at 3K
has the clutch got enough freeplay to allow clearence for the release bearing? also was the clutch cleaned before fitting as they have a protective coating of rust inhibitor which can cause a new clutch to slip if not cleaned off.
1. check freeplay
2. slip clutch gently to burn off grease
if none of those work then more investigation needed.

Cheers - Single mass flywheel / dual mass..
I guess it may be when the turb is kicking in and the extra torque is making it slip? But the clutch 'claims' to handle twice what my car has!?
Unsure about it being cleaned as my mechanic done it - id assume he knows what he is doing?!
Il get him to have a look and see if he can figure it out?
