So you're on a track day in your Porsche 996 GT3 trying to hunt down your mate in his Aston Martin. You're about to get him on a bend but something goes wrong.
Take a guess what happens while you watch the video:
As has been said before. Listen to the engine note in both cars. Neither one was at even 3/4 of its range. Big up to the bus, that is one fantastic piece of engineering, but to think it could blast past a 911 GT3 like that is pure fantasy,if the driver of the Porsche wanted to welly it, things like aerodynamics come into play on a circuit,as well as ptw
Almera GTI = ugly bird who turns out to be great in the sack = Win

Now I don't want to stir it up but my mate took his 911 round the ring and video'd it all
I ripped the curse word out of him cos it looked on camera as if he was out for a sunday drive - he assured me he was redlining in all of the gears!!!
Here's how I got it working on Mac with Windows Media Player, useful if there's vids only in that format.
I'm using Firefox 2, go into Preferences, then 'Content', then 'Manage', at the bottom right under 'File Types', then select 'wmv', then select 'Open them with this application', instead of the plugin option, and browse to Windows Media Player, which should be in Applications.
Still awesome even if they weren't really ragging the Porsche and the Aston, a real WTF moment when the bus comes past ;D
despite everyone saying it isnt that fast, if you watch this one -
(quite long but with it )
Its REAL fast! Eating up most cars under braking and the bends, and if they fiddle about (see the scooby!) just pure grunt to take them on the straight!
To me it looks like the porsche was trying after the bus got past him. The aston driver wasnt trying particularly hard though. You can see how quick the bus is on the straight but once the porsche got past the aston he was closing the gap. It looks like it would be a fairly close race though.
It ALWAYS seems slower on camera than it actually is. Especially in street cars. The only way to really be able to tell is if you video from the inside of the corner with the car screaming up towards you. Otherwise, it's very hard to get the feel of just how fast they're going. It certainly sounds to me like that Porsche wasn't curse word about, sure, he short shifted over the start finish line, but that seemed more like hesitance at the upcoming hill than it did a lack of trying.
The bus is damn quick, sits flat and handles very well.
I'm downloading that second video now... Shall be interesting!
