I had to visit my local indy VW specialist mechanic today with my Polo. In his workshop he had one of these: (not this one I hasten to add) Back in the day I lusted for one. Now I can see it's not quite the car for me but it's still an awesome piece of kit. The specialist was telling me it went to the 'ring and on return needed new brake pads _and_ disks so its owner is not afraid to use it.

They were a very serious bit of kit in their day.
Trouble was, nobody in 1989 wanted to pay £20-25 grand (or however much they were) for a car with a VW badge.
How times have changed!
Mind you VW didn't learn the lesson with the 50-60k Phaeton saloon, which looks basically like a previous gen A8 only not as good!

I always quite liked the Corrado. Better than the Scirocco IMHO. Or maybe it's just because I was young when it came out and it had a clever lift up spoiler! Wow!

I think they got the body right but ran out of enthusiasm with the headlights. Shame it never survived into the late '90s, then it would have got a facelift and would probably have benefited.

I'm sure they drive great.
But I can't get to grips with the whole two door, front wheel drive coupe thang....
not a corrado fan to be honest.

I think I would much prefer the G60 Corrado to the VR6, but they both make fabulous noises and go alright A video of Tiff Needel giving the 'new' Corrado G60 a thorough test...

Corrado VR6 was the pinnacle of the Golf 2 Platform and incredibly capable For a Front driver its on my list to own ;)Preferably a late run out Storm with the 5 spoke speedlines, leather and all the toys Fuel bills are pretty huge if you use them hard as are consumables... The VR6 is a heavy motor but gives it a totally different character to the 4 pots Headlights are curse word but so are all VW`s but Relaying the headlamp loom helps and allows full power to reach the bulbs
