When you say you have re done a quote, what exactly do you mean??
Is it that you've taken out a policy, double checked it on line and is half the price you are now paying with the same company??
If so, phone them up and have a word, as long as you have the reference number for the quote, they should change it

well i have just 2 months ncb with them currently the best option is just to canceland re apply and start a fresh the new policy and thus saving just under 1k !
will have to go this way time to be put on hold for half an hour

you cannot have 2 months ncb, you only have them for each year you've had claim free, so in 10 months time you'll have one years. then the price may come down.

In all fairness fella, Ncb seems to do sod all these days, well does for me at least.
If it means you save £1k, cancel and then take new policy out, there's no way that a years ncb will save you that much!!

Pretty sure you can cancel insurance in the first few days and they can't charge you

As far as I know they don't base it on a 18yo for a few months then magically you become "a sensible 19yo" for the rest of it. If its reducing the policy by a good amount cancel current one and reapply, then in the future you'll get a better deal as insurance would renew after your birthday.
I don't really know whats going on with car insurance atm, when we changed car from a 2000 bmw 318 touring to a 1.7cdti meriva it went up to £148/month although we got quotes that were £50-70 a month cheaper we were only 2 months off getting a second years no claims so we left it, just had renewal through its gone up to £250 a month: nothings changed other than an extra years no claims, looking elsewhere we can get the same cover/benefits with other companies for £60-80 a month!

Brokers will have a certain amount of insurance given to them by the underwriters for different risk levels. Once they reach that limit they jack up the prices to the next base premium level
