i bought a vdo boost gauge from german ebay , because of the language i never realised its a rarer type that needs a seperate sender instead of a rubber pipe on the back
genuine vdo senders are ££££ ive noticed theres a couple of cheapie no name ones on ebay , or even a whole digital gauge kit with one included
will these no name ones likely work with it or what

They might work. When it comes to electronic sensors most of them work in a fairly similar way. Depends on how important accuracy will be.
You might find you can use a MAP sensor to provide the signal. They don't have to cost a lot of money if you get a second-hand one from the right place.

MAP sensors annoyingly, can give wildly different outputs... For example - the MAP sensors used on Rovers. The petrol MAP sensor is a 0.2 - 1.2Bar sensor (meaning it can read from 0.2 Bar above absolute vacuum, and 1.2 Bar above absolute vacuum.. or 0.2 Bar boost) Whilst the diesel one is along the lines of 0.2 - 2.5Bar Both sensors look identical, with only a single digit in the part number changing, and they both give an output from 0-5v. So whilst holding the petrol one in open air (not plumbed in) will show something like 4v, the one from the diesel will show something like 2v you MUST get a suitable sender to make any actual use I'm afraid - but it's almost guaranteed to just be a 5v voltmeter in a pod really. So once you get it, shove 5v into the input, and see what pressure it says. Should be easy enough for me to find you a suitable donor with that information
