My mrs had some mechanics come out this week to re-gas the AC on her ford focus.
They checked the car over and realised that, when the AC button is pressed, the clutch on the AC compressor is not engaging.
They tested the fuse and relay and they were fine.
They then ran the car with the AC button on and found that, if you give the clutch/pulley and gentle "nudge" with a pry bar, it engages and stays engaged.
If you turn engine off it disengages and can only be engaged manually again (pry bar).
They reckon you can get a clutch for the compressor and rebuild it rather than fork out £800 for a new compressor.
Trouble is the clutch is £300 from ford!!!!!!!!!!!
Anybody know of a cheaper supplier?
