I've got this compressor, a Ring RAC900 if you're interested, and it comes with a fused cable that terminates in croc-type clips rather than the cigar lighter adapter I would've preferred. Not a big deal but it means when I go to use it I need to open the bonnet and whatnot. I'm probably going to chop the crocs off and get a cigar lighter adapter for it, is there any reason I shouldn't? Anything else I should be thinking?

Cigar lighter sockets are normally 10amp max = 120 watts. The pump specs are 280 watts / 23 amp so power via cigar lighter socket not possible.

Nice one, hadn't thought of that.
So I bought the wrong one then, didn't I? I did the manly thing and went for the most powerful one, never mind.

Are you going to be using it a lot or just for the occasional emergency. If its a lot you could wire in a suitably fused power point to connect it to internally

It'll be occasional, I'll just leave it as it is and pop the bonnet when I need it.
I've done some Googling and reckon this is supposed to be wired into recovery trucks and the like rather than used for the occasional topping up by clowns like me. I should've done my homework better.
Great bit of kit, croc clips aside, if anyone's looking for something similar.
