Thanks for the replies.
When I got this I knew that I would be replacing RR parts with others purely down to cost. I keep thinking of complete L322 parts but they don't come up cheap enough for me. My thoughts always come back to BMW stuff. I do heart them very much. I keep thinking E38 rear end including subframe...... IF you got a worse one of these (Hard to believe but they are out there) mount the body onto a complete E38 base. House the Bmw dash into the Rolls dash etc etc. I like the Andy S work on the rear end. But he's done it. I'm trying to keep this straight forward and get it back on the road ASAP.
HA HA HA Haaaaaaaaaaaa HA!. As soon as possible. Hark at me ;D

Just showed this to my colleague and he does not believe that has rust that bad. Have to say, we believe that old Rolls are made better. At least at they give good wax-oil treatment at factory, but that are totally rust thru. And have to leave this in here... ;D

SSSSssooo. Darker nights, rain.Back in the garage! Hurrah Hurrah. A little rewind to remind myself..why oh why? After a swift tug at the back seat ( No, stop it) on Flickr That was the lower nsr seat belt mount. Which was meant to be secured to.. on Flickr Upon closer inspection. on Flickr Which brings me back to the earlier picture from underneath it. on Flickr I did go in and set about what was left of Carbodies finest. on Flickr Leaving the following airgaps. on Flickr on Flickr The above picture is the forward end of the nsr chassis leg with the remainder of the "Fishtail" spreader/strengthening piece hanging out. The new one is below. on Flickr on Flickr As per most things, while going at this I neglected to take pictures of the seatbase panels. But here they are in...ish. Spot the nsr seatbelt mount that really really exists now? on Flickr on Flickr And with the "Fishtail" piece in. This covers the seatbelt mounting point and gives the whole area strength. Hence the rib running down it. I put these into the seatbase panel as well for no other reason than practice. on Flickr And from the inside. on Flickr Cheers

If it wasn't for the fact we'd all have to choose between you and Mr. XB, I'd be suggesting R-R needs to add a "Balls of Steel" category in the annual awards.
Nice fabrication.

Full credit to you for the fabrication and the clear pictures/information. It is good to see what can be achieved and it helps put my own projects into context. Great work.

Thankyou for the support. Right,The end is in sight! .....for the nsr sill area. There is what only can be called a cross member beneath the rear seat heel board, the lower return edge was looking like a set of mucky brown frilly net curtains. It is only this side of it that was bad. on Flickr] on Flickr on Flickr on Flickr I have also repaired and refitted the jacking point. Below is an earlier picture of it... on Flickr I have had a rethink on planning...a brief chat with the other voices in my head and I am jumping across to the other sill end. This one isn't as bad.....ppppfftttt!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D. on Flickr The picture below is looking up at the jacking area. on Flickr And the next one shows the unique inspection flap for checking how far the jack went though the car. on Flickr The reason to moving across is just to have two solid areas to work to either side of the car with reference to the forward boot floor repairs. Thanks

Fair play mate, more than i would want to take on.
Isnt it satisfying once you have welded in a new section
Then depressing when you look at the repairs still to be undertaken.
Keep at it

That is fantastic work. It's incredible, and I will say it again - I've never understood why there are people who can build to this standard, yet when I've paid professionals to do work on a car, I've got terrible work in return. Surely being able to work on a Rolls Royce like this sets you up for retirement when these things are valuable!
