MAINTENANCE:
Work carried out since 29/06/2010 (125k miles) (including routine servicing)-
Rear brake back plates replaced and handbrake fitting kit installed.
Tailgate gas struts replaced.
Climate Control Unit (hedgehog) Replaced to cure blower motor issue.
NS drop link replaced.
Brake light switch replaced.
Rear brake pads replaced.
Nearly new tyres- apprx 7mm tread all round.
Last service completed 23/03/2012 including-
oil & filter changes x 3,
spark plugs,
air filter,
pollen filter,
rear brake pads.
Battery replaced 25/02/2012.
BAD POINTS:
As with any car of this age in daily use, here's the inevitable list of issues-
Both rear arches slightly bubbly in small areas.
Parking dent on left rear arch.
Bubbling around BMW badge on tailgate.
Very slight bubbling on both front arches.
Wear on armrest.
Key doesn't work in tailgate lock (tailgate unlocks/locks fine with central locking).
Glove box door opens further than it should due to damaged hinge. Still works ok though and doesn't fall open, just sits lower than it should when open.
Headlamp washer was leaking on drivers side so I disconnected it.
The cloth interior has a few small blemishes and water marks.
The paintwork is showing signs of age with a few blemishes and scratches.
Overall the car doesn't look, feel or drive like it is 15 years old. It's been a very reliable, comfortable (and quick) family car/holiday cruiser over the 2 years I've owned it, including several trips to Ireland and all over Scotland with no problems (returned 33mpg on long runs). Besides the list of bad points, everything works as it should and absolutely nothing is missing, even the toolkit, first aid box and the little torch in the glovebox. My reason for selling is I purchased something a bit bigger and more economical on fuel (slower and more boring) for family duties. If I could keep the BM as well I would, but sadly its got to go.
Currently on SORN since 18/05/2012. I put the car on SORN as I had to cancel the insurance on it in order to use my No Claims Bonus on a new car and avoid a ridiculous premium.
