Hi Noob here. I've had a lovely e34 525 tds, Bertha, for about 7 months now and am looking for couple of nice mods to help her handle a bit better and go a bit quicker. I'm looking at a strut brace and pondering a tuning box. Interested in the opinions on what to do, she's clean, rust free and apart from dripping a bit of oil is an excellent motor so I'm keen to keep her this way.
Look forward to hearing from you all.
Cheers Jezza

Welcome to RR . These can be chipped to great effect, and its a worthwhile mod I reckon! I don't think I'd bother with a strut brace until I'd done something with the suspension - maybe some lowering springs or something? Also, what wheels are oin it at the moment? There are some great e34 wheels out there that really make a difference to the looks!

Hello and Welcome.
A strut brace is IMO unlikely to make much difference E34's are pretty stiff structurally. In terms of improving the handling poly bush the front suspension arms, the original rubber ones are likely to be old and wear quite badly anyway. My old 535 was lowered on Supersprint -35mm springs and "sports" dampers, TBH it handled well but there was still a large amount of body roll!

Thanks for the tips chaps. I've since had her chipped by The End and the change is revolutionary in terms of pick up and torque. Now looking at EGR delete, any tips on how to do this appreciated, decat and stainless. If all goes well I will then sort out the suspension but do really like the comfortable wallow that she has now...Torn.
Who knew a 19 year old motor could be such fun!

Jez Check out Rossco thread in Readers Rides, he's got a 525TDS he uses for drifting he's deleted the EGR and done other stuff too. retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=readersrides&action=display&thread=131294
