Hey guys. Need to pick someone's brains.
The Judge is running a TR7 rear axle. I am absolutely fed up with the mentally low gearing of the axle. It sits at around 3500rpm at 65. So i need to seek out a more suitable rear axle. It needs to be a live rear axle, and how strong/weak it is isn't of the greatest of issues for me as i'm going to weld it up anyway.
Any suggestions?
I'm more interested in what's long geared as opposed to anything else.

Which TR7 axle?
There are two (at least).
Early 4 speed 7s used a Dolomite axle. I think manuals were 3.63:1 and autos 3.27:1. It's a weedy axle. 2.0L the limit.
5 speed TR7s used a much beefier unit similar to those used in SD1 Rovers (and Dolly Sprint).
3.9:1 ratio on the manuals as standard. TR8s had 3.08:1 as also used on SD1 3500. 3.45:1 also exists from Sprint and smaller engined SD1s.
Either way you can probably stick with the same basic axle, just swap the ratio?

Yeah that's what i was pondering, to get a SD1 3500 diff, the lower the better.
Thanks a lot for the help.
