	Hi guys, After thinking about it a lot, I've decided to keep my W202 Mercedes. The main job that needed doing was changing the indicator stalk. I removed the old one to get the part number to order the new one, but while removing the wiring I noticed the airbag wasn't connected. When I start putting everything back together I'm not sure what to do with the airbag. If it's been disconnected, it's been done so for a reason, so I'm cautious about reconnecting it. One the other hand though, if the worst was to happen and I was to crash, would the airbag still go off? If so, I guess it wouldn't necessary be when it was designed too. There are no warning lights on the dashboard to say it's disconnected. Unless the bulb is out. Come to think of it, I can't remember if I've ever seen it come on when it's started. Cheers guys

	Sounds like in the cars past there was a fault in the airbag system which proved to be too expensive for the owner hence disconnect bag and remove bulb. The SRS/Airbag system should self check when you start the car. If the bag has wires to is then they're not prone to just exploding even when hit, we still store ours in a safe though when they're off a car. Don't rely on the airbag and try not to crash. If it helps, the last car I found in this situation needed a rotary coupler, the bit behind the steering wheel that allows the connection to the airbag and still lets the steering wheel ... steer.

	By rotary coupler, do you mean the clock spring? Inside those is basically a really long ribbon cable that coils or uncoils as you steer the car, I have known somebody who successfully replaced the ribbon as the smart car part was too expensive.

	Yeah, same bit has loads of names, they are expensive for no apparent reason.

	I got the new stalk yesterday so tackled the job. From what I can see, the airbag system is all in order. The coupler is fine, the winding is all intact and moves freely. I haven't connected it again just in case. The problem I've got now is when the airbag is back in place on the steering wheel, the horn won't stop going off.
