We all know about speed cameras but just imagine if they introduced speed squared cameras. In other words, accelerations cameras. Imagine the scene..... A bloke get stopped by police. Policeman: "Did you know this was a 2ft per second squared zone and our laser gun caught you accelerating away from the trafic lights at 6ft per sec squared ! That will be an instant £60 fine for excessive acceleration" Driver: "but.......but....officer, my GT28RS turbo didn't even spool up !" ;D Or it could be worse. We could have accelleration charging zones due to more enviromental damage being caused by more air and fuel being used whilst accelerating hard. Or perhaps charging people to rev past 6000rpm as that will be causing more enviromental damage than changing up at 5500rpm !! OH MY GOD !! I can see this being the future ! SCARY

*blood boils at the thought* they'd have to make it compulsory to fit dials to show acceleration first though!

what would be interesting would be to see how the pollution has increased in areas with speed bumps etc where people are slowing down and speeding up,and the correlated increase in childhood breathing difficulties...

and the environmental impact of all the additonal waste to process from all those shock absorbers, springs, bump stops, exhausts, etc getting replaced at 2 year intervals rather than 10! LOL.

Do these acceleration cameras exist? Or is it purely theoretical?
I reckon Honeytrap Camers will be next. The coppers get 3 scantily-clad young birds to stand about at the side of the road, one has a camera hidden in her bag. Mr Mondeo man drives by after a hard day at the office... if he looks at them for more than 2 seconds POW! £80 for not driving with due care and attention. ;D

You can already be done for "undue acceleration" or something. Its in the opionion of the copper that spots you though not a camera.

johns4x4 in da house: Did you know this was a 2ft per second squared zone and our laser gun caught you accelerating away from the trafic lights at 6ft per sec squared
This is insanely cool. I have a verry rich & excentric friend with a bunch of cool toys, Twin Lamborghini powered of shore boat, Cummins Diesel monster Dodge 3500 truck, Porsche GT2 street driven among others, he's also known as extremely litigious and has probalbly taken most of our Swedish goverments and services to court atleast once. Once at a red light Pelle was next to a Police car in one of his Porsche, when it turns green he floors it, and I mean floors it an flyes away to 70km that was the speedlimit, the Police pulls him over and tries to fine him for speeding, no such thing Pelle: "I did NOT excede 70kph" Polis: "no but you took of way to hard at green" Pelle: "so find somwhere in the law that says I can't" Polis: "we say you can't" Pelle: "that's not good enough for me and I'm leaving unless you can find it in your little book there" that he should not have said, and what the Police did, they would not have done if they knew who they were dealing with. This case went back and forth in courts for 3 years, costing the Police (and Pelle but he could care less) an enormous amount of time and cash, in the end he got right against the Police and now he's suing them for them wasting is time (well not quite).....
DP says: I just love Pelle to bits but he can be a royal pain in the a** if you cross him....

when i had my '75 chevy nova (bright yellow and not very subtley silenced built 350sbc) I used to drive it in 1st around town and was regularly followed by the police. I used to take great joy in accelerating up to 30,and also when they followed me out of town,up to 60. Leaving their little diseasle ashtrays for dead and there was nothing they could do. reason for being followed was that one of the coppers was a little hitler who my sister blew out after he slept with one of her mates and I floored when he came round after. c0ck

Thank god for humour! I hope this stays just as a comical thing!
I try not to accelarate too mad while cops are about, for fear they'll stop and bother me!

Got done in about 1984 on a Vespa PX200 jumping a GREEN light accross the oncoming traffic for recless driving, by a copper on a bike, he said I endangered myself..... R50 fine, was about 20% of what I earned a month those days. Another time, I made my Ford Cortina (1982 model) P100 here in the UK, step out and do a bit of a broadside up the street in anger after my girlfriend had pee'd me off, got taken by a "ghost" plainclothes interceptor cop again for dangerous driving, and destruction of municipal property.... ie the road surface. These Tawts will find a reason to crucify us.

I've tried getting pulled over for speeding in a 2CV. I had to do 50 in a 30 zone and then I only got told off. Oh, I overtook the police car for good measure! Young males do silly things.
Don't think acceleration cameras would be a worry for me!

"Undue acceleration" eh? I wondered if something like that existed, doesnt surprise me in the least but I don't see whats to make a fuss about if you only accelerate up to the limit. killjoys.
