Cherished Daily Driver Moggy Minor 'Bertie'
This old lad is a bit of an odd-ball, we got him off a coach mechanic Last year who defiantly knew what he was doing... Basically the car is a Standard Morris Minor 1000 4-Door with the front end and running gear removed. The Rear axle free-wheels and has some nifty home made Micro-shock absorbers & Mounts. The Front has been replaced by a 1993 Rover 100 Metro PEUGEOT TUD 1400 N/A Diesel Engine with Disc Brake Hubs. The car has the original wheels re-drilled to fit the Metro hubs so it all looks correct and original until you lift the bonnet. The only way you can really tell that this is a Front wheel drive diesel [Apart from the sound] is that this Morris Can overtake most modern traffic and deliver over 65MPG. The car drives superbly and is super efficient, It get's looks wherever it goes and never fails to impress. The bodywork is no show winner and without a silencer it sounds more like a Land Rover pulling up than a 1965 Moggy. If you would like to know more please feel free to Email me an I would love to share what I know about this great daily driver!
It's used daily and last week a minibus decided that the country lane we were on was wide enough for two cars to pass... evidently the morris was run up the banking while the old biddie scraped down the side and sped off... The rear wing was in a poor state but I've managed to pull it out and buff it up as best I can. there is also a black line along the side of the roof where the mirror hit...
