Congrats on the 9 mr qwerty! Nearly bid myself but you sounded pretty determined to have it so i didnt bother. You cant go wrong with a 1400 turbo renault motor! They are virtually bullet proof so long as you keep on top of the cooling system and regulary flush it out. They get a lot of bad press for blowing headgaskets etc but thats only due to the burberry crew not looking after them and winding the boost to oblivion. *back on topic* When i joined the RTOC I think it took around 24 hrs to be able to access the site and they send you a huge password thats a mix of numbers and letters so write it down Only problem is theres a hell of a lot of the bodykit brigade on there Have you picked the car up yet? If so how good is it? (yes i am an obsessive renault lover )

Its been 48 hours . I'm just trying to find out more about them etc. I haven't picked it up yet. Pick it up tomorrow night. Really looking forward to it. I'm gunna try and take care of it. Gunna mod it slightly ut nothing irreversable and keep all the standard stuff. Saying that i was wondering what a Bozo Renault 9 would look like.....

^That is ace!!
I'd leave the GT turbo arches!! Those schmidts look awesome they stopin on it??
What engine was it originally a 1.4 na??
Was the conversion difficult? Did the arches go on very easily? What spec is the engine. Have you basically just used all 5 gt turbo running gear brakes etc? Whats the rear suspension setup? Leaf springs or proper struts?

The van started out as a boggo 1.6 diseasel and had a full 5 turbo conversion performed many moons ago (circa 1998). The rear end of the vans is also torsion bar like the gt turbo but fitted up with drums on the rear instead of discs. Being the *gifted* driver that i am, i managed to put it through a wall some time ago in a 3rd gear wheel spinning frenzy which gave me a chance to swap the front cross member and valance for ren 5 items meaning the 5 wings and bonnet will fit rather than just ren extra ones as they're different shapes. The kit is standard gt turbo affair but the skirts were stretched 6 inches (roughly) due to the extra length in a van and the arche skirts were stretched and re-shaped to match. Theres a heavilly modded gt turbo rear bumper to be finished off for it and id like to fit a standard gt turbo front bumper and bonnet. At the moment I'm unsure of what to do with it as its taking up space and i havent touched it for ages, but i should really finish it. Last time it was on the rollers it made 173.2 bhp at 19psi with 225.6 pounds of torque ;D all with a standard carb, pump and turbo. but now with the Stage 4 ep turbo grpa pump and carb I'm hoping for around 240 bhp and around 250 pounds of torque. Time will tell i guess to the cars future but back in 99 it ran a 14.2 second quarter so id like to see a 13 before I'm finished with it. p.s. sorry for the post hi-jack

What did you do for 173bhp!?!?!?!?!?!
I was planning on uprating the head bolts and headgasket. Get a bigger intercooler (possibly fiat 20V) and u the boost

Have you washed it Ross? Seems less mould on it than the last time I saw it. Washing cars is for girls 173 bhp acheived by exhaust and filter, europarts grp a head gasket, europarts stage 5 flowed and ported head with reshaped combustion chambers, pace alloy intercooler, forged low comp pistons, balanced crank, lightened balanced rods, lightened flywheel and 19 psi of boost. but as they say bhp sells a car..... torque wins races! 225.6 pounds of torque is something else for a 1400cc pushrod, carb fed 8 valve ;D
