Hi all, I've just spent the afternoon getting incredibly fed up trying to align the doors on my Mk1 Jetta 
They will just not line up. Things looked ok until i refitted the original door seals. Now when you try to close the door it feels like the seal at the hinge end is fully 'squashed/compressed' but the latch end has still 2/3 inches to go... . No amount of fiddling and adjusting seems to help, i really am at a loss. Does anyone know if VW used shims or packers between the door hinges and bodywork? That is all i can think of, maybe if i pack the door hinges out a little then it will allow the door to close more...in theory...i think 
Anyone care to post up some pics of their hinges? This would give me a guide as to what it should be like or if anyone is in the Bridgwater area of Somerset and is kind enough to lend a hand sometime soon then drop me a mail.
