Been keeping my eye out recently for a few retro and less common cars, turns out there are more about than you think (although you don't really want to take photos of cars with people inside them!!). Apologies for the quality - all taken on a camera phone. Chronologically: Lotus Elise zipping past me. Celica (Supra?) automatic if I recall correctly. Scimitar owned by a jewelry maker up the road. Pug 505 GTi with right front damage. I swear this was a 4 door when I took the pic! MkII Esky. Nice black dub, round the corner. Pug Hot Hatch #1. Oldschool Pick-Up (what is it?) heading north. Clubman at the supermarket! Capriiiii! 3.0 v6 one too. LoChev making a quick gettaway. Merc identical to my mates new one. Local Falcon wagon. Courtesy car? I do hope so... Only Monza I've ever seen. Holden Kingswood Ute, complete with visor. M-2 Gizza, right into the sun. Mate's Strada - freakin' nice car with an exhaust note to die for. Almost the oldest car of the lot. American Muscle. Pug 304 (?) softy. Also local. Very cool Kombi. Terrible quality night picture of a mini school bus. Odd burning plant smells coming out of it I might add. Oldschool tyre pump meter, still going at a local petrol station. New Audi RS4, another local. Renault GTA V6, love these things! Porsche Turbo, again local. This seems to be a Mitsi Galant? Correct me if I'm wrong. Reto Celica, never seen one of these before - then I saw another the other day! Pug Hot Hatch #2 My daily driver w00t! Oddly modified Z-Car. A now local Bug which I've found out is owned by a rather pretty 20 year old girl. Moggy! Rat-Merc / Mate's parts car. Third Morris so far. Another odd looking Celica that I haven't seen before. Very very nice wagon right hurrrr. Subaru GFT - never even heard of this before! Awesome Bentley! Bimmer. Pop-Rod. Interesting VW, not so sure on the name. Wooooooof! Enjoy guys!

Really, All the Mk1s I seen on the net seem to look much more oldschool than that golf!! Weird. I guess those are UK plates, they don't look like a familier NZ style. Must have just registered it with that rego.

Good work there zep! The pick-up is a Land Rover. I love this! Loads of obscure J imports over there it seems... stuff that you'd never ever see in the UK outside of shows. Amazing! Thanks for sharing

Fantastic pics! Not often you see a vintage bentley parked up at the roadside.
However if I did see one, i'd run straight past it to check out that Subaru. That is such a cool car I would cheerfully throw myself under its wheels if I saw it coming towards me, what a way to go. Awesome!

MkII Esky. Dude, that's MY old car! It was pretty damned mint once upon a time, the ex drove it up to Auckland and obviously just let it turn to curse word.

Oddly modified Z-Car. This is a "Ferrari" kit on it, horrible thing to do to a 240Z but ahh well.. Yes rmad, they are nicely sized SpeedStar Racing Longhcamp XR4s on it... I want them! MAN! I'm still miffed the ex let the car go like that, for craps sake I used to wash that thing every couple of days and keep it maintained and NOW LOOK AT IT!?!

Wow, great selection there. I thought that Datsun was looking a bit Ferrari-ish. I love the mix of European, Japanese and American you guys get down there

(weller 8 spokes?) is that a full length bumper cut down to quarters?

NZ seems like an awesome place with what we've seen in the last few days - I'm envious.
Got to agree with Mr_B, that Subaru is the tops. Major bonus points to you for finding one with the super-ugly (= deeply cool) front on it.
That Galant (may be a Sigma?) is also rather nice.

The Bentley ... OH WOW, One of my favorite cars evAr! Parked up by the roadside in a street in modern times... it just looks so strange in the modern surrounds Brilliant As others have said old skool pick up is a Land Rover ..how come you had to ask/did not know ...I thought everybody/whole world knows what a Land Rover looks like (as per a Mini or a Beetle etc..) ;D ...No offense meant Bus is a Bedford 'J' Type ...we call them 'Joeys' All in all a fantastic selection of pictures WELL DONE! Edit ...I think the Bentley's the 'Blower' version as well

Bus is a Bedford 'J' Type ...we call them 'Joeys' Really? Now I dunno about bus versions, but I have in my head that the pick-up/tipper type were commonly referred to as 'gipsy wagons' or similar? Maybe that's just what me da called them....?

^ The 'cab' part is a 'J'Type as used for Buses, Tippers, Box vans and so on (pretty much same way as Leyland comet was used). Incidently ** puts Anorak on** the 'J' Type was produced in Britain till 1998 (Yes ' 98!) although by then as a 'for export only' vehicle. Towards the end (1998) it was manufactured by Who-ever-owned-Bedford-Trucks-division-at-the-time (e.g. A.W.D, David Brown and so on...in other words passed around like a 'Hot Potatoe' ;D ). It was always a good export seller ...due to the third world liking it; where you will see it as the basis for many a Cargo Carrier and bus today (and some ain't that old, although look it!). How did I find all this out ...'cause the military still required the Bedford MK (4X4 Four Tonner with 'TK' style cab) to be produced many years after production initially stopped aswell ... ...but that is another story **Takes Anorak off**
