Apologies for coming to this thread bereft of a photo to illustrate my point. I keep thinking of how it would look to fit ATV alloys on a mini. They come in 10" with a good amount of dish and a bit of a J-look (to my eyes anyway) see here... www.atvworld.com/products/motorsportalloys/wheels.htmHas it been done? Here's a mini with other strange additions for your troubles.

Dangerous idea I would think. Aside from stud pattern issues I doubt they are made to carry the weight of a Mini, nor are they likely to be made to spin as fast as a car wheel, so they may not be as well balanced.

ATV wheels are quite lightweight (I've got a Yamaha quad) and doubt they would have the load rating for a Mini. Also the PCD is normally a lot larger than the Mini 4 x 4". In fact I've been looking the other way round - making adapters to allow fitment of decent Mini wheels to replace the flimsy Yamaha versions Paul H

As far as i am aware they are not legal for road use and carry no approval markings, i'm not trying to kick off an arguement here but how many wheels do have approval and what does this approval marking look like? Most golf cart wheels are load rated high enough to go on a mini, also pcd is correct. Heres something interesting for you as well: Well known gianni potenza wheels All the option parts are approved for racing purposes and thus not suitable for use on public roads in use of parts, in public transport licensing and may also expires your driver's license for the vehicle if any traffic law license, approval or authorization procedures are! solely for the customer. for issuing the necessary permits may by road authorities and the installation in a vehicle, we assume no liability. not so well known Golf cart wheel Some googling later you can find the place in china that makes the wheels, with a minimum order of 200 pieces www.weiku.com/products/2164946/Golf_wheel.htmlBit more googling you can see they have a load rating of 750lb each compared to the 660lb load rating of sportspack wheels. recstuff.com/10x7-5-45-aluminum-golf-cart.aspx

It's quite popular in quad racing circles now to use regrooved (aggressively) mini tyres on the front...
If you're after stronger wheels composimmonite, then can i suggest you look into buying a set of decent racing wheels, DWT red Labels are aircraft grade ally and about as strong as you could ever want, if you can land a 50ft jump at 80mph onto them onto desert rock if these are too dear £70 each iirc dependent on size (what have you got? Banshee, Raptor?) then there are plent of other orptions, if you start fitting heavy car wheels to a decent quad the handling especially over jumps ect wil be dreadful...
as for the original poster, i'm sure there are wheels strong enough out there, and the wheels must be type approved for road use as so many quads are road legal these days, as long as you stay within the manufacturers weight loading i cant see the problem, though i'd still be wary of using them for hard/track use..

This would be awkward as road legal quad bikes are catergorised differently to cars and thus have different legislation. Personally having been around lots of quads id say that their wheel just aren't up to the job. Also road legal quads are fitted with different tyres. The standard knobblies most farm quads wear are not road legal

I'd wager that an aftermarket quad wheel is probably stronger than a stock mini wheel. I used to land stupid jumps on my Raptor, sometimes landing hard on only one wheel and never buckled one. Road driving is tame in comparison.

Didn't Slater do this? Or propose doing it a few years back?

I wonder what these 12X7 Cragar golf cart wheels are rated to hold. 4X4 lug pattern. So very cool.

Didn't Slater do this? Or propose doing it a few years back? He definitely proposed it, I think he wanted wheels smaller than 10" Iirc the wheels on the John Deere Mini were made up of Miglia split rim rims and he machined the centres himself out of appropriately graded aluminium
