Pics are from the previous seller - I need to get it cleaned and photographed:
Car is very quick off the mark, and the V8 sounds great. No graunches or odd noises from the gearbox or engine. Tiptronic mode works fine though I tend to just use the auto mode.
The interior of the car is lovely. Leather is in very good order as you can see in the pics. The boot carpet lets the side down a bit, but I don't go in there very often!
There are three warning lights on the dash - this is what the seller told me when I bought it:
1) Empty windscreen washer bottle - must be a stuck float in the bottle I guess. Washer bottle is a pain to get to so I use the "is-there-water-coming-out-of-the-nozzles" test to check it. Still works ok.
2) Brake pads. Uses those thin wires that connect to the pads to indicate wear. Always goes wrong. There is a thread on A8-pages to tell you how to permanently disable this. (Also used to be an ABS fault light which I fixed by replacing the ABS sensor cabling, also from A8 pages. That is now fine). Just due to the age of the wires.
3) Lights. When a brake light needed replacing this came on, after replacing it stayed on, but the lights all work fine.
Rear electric blind works okay, as do all windows. Electric Sunroof operates correctly too.
Elec folding mirrors take an age to fold, but do go eventually (guess 15 seconds).
Heating fan makes a clicking noise when it's been on the screen for a few minutes - select "Auto" and it goes away. I have sourced a D2 Climate Control Flap Positioning Motor for this, though not fitted.
The cooling fan is sometimes noisy, so I have bought a spare D2 Electric Cooling Fan which will come with the car.
One of the displays on the dash is unreadable. One day it worked perfectly - it just shows the date and time (thinks it's May 1999), but not worked other than that.
There is a full size spare wheel in the boot, but the tyre needs replacing on it.
The parking sensors (front and rear) can be a little over enthusiastic, but there is a button on the dash to turn them off when they get annoying!
The maxidot display is tempremental. Not sure what this is called on the Audi, but that's what they're called on Skodas. It's the one that displays mpg / temperature and those three warning messages. It seems to need warming up - sometimes I go in the car and you can barely see the display, though after driving for a few miles, it gets brigher until it's working as it should.
The steering is too heavy on the car - the geometry does need doing on the car.
Here's the Service history - I've gathered this from the stamps and invoices. Had to put it in a pic as I couldn't work out the table stuff:
Added to this is the recent work done at Lion Garage (VAG Specialists):
20th April 2012 :
Renewed Timing Belt & Associated Tensioners/Dampers.
Renewed Ribbed Belt & Associated Tensioners/Idlers.
Rewewed Water Pump (Audi part) & Anti Freeze.
Renewed Thermostat & Seal.
Total: £855.
30mpg is possible on a motorway run (best I've had is 31mpg), though this is not an economical car, so I'm averaging more like low to mid 20's. Heavy right foot will see it in the teens.
I bought the car 10/11/11, and have done just over 2500 miles since then. Am using it as a "weekend car" so it spends most days in my garage. Use my diesel Saab for the long commute to work.
Selling as I'm not earning as much as I used to
Car can be seen in Hinckley (LE10) .
Private plate included (A8 UDH).
