I'm fitting throttle bodies to my manta. I'm thinking of using an electric vacuum pump rather than doing the little pipes connected to a box thing, as I want to keep things as neat as possible. Ive heard these pumps mentioned a few times but I have no idea what they are fitted to, anyone come across these? I know there are pulley operated pumps fitted to transits, or I could use an alternator from a diesel with the pump on the back, I may go down that route yet. Thanks, Scott.

Electric vacuum pumps are fitted mainly to electric vehicles. There are a few IC engined vehicles with them but you'd struggle to find one as always in demand for electric conversions. To be as neat as possible go with the box and pipes hidden away as that will be far neater then any conversion using a diesel Vac pump or alternator pump. If you really want an electric pump then be prepared to pay a load of money - www.everything-ev.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65_70&products_id=182Paul H

Smiley face Transits had a vacuum pump mounted on the back of the Alternator IIRC

The sierra ones I found all have ABS, is the pump part removable? seems to be part of the master cylinder?

The Sierra pump sounds like a good idea for sure.
If there is a provision for a mechanical pump I would not discount the Pug XU engined pumps (such as on the diesels and 306 GTi-6).

You don't need the ABS bits on the Sierra set up, best way to fit it would be to just use the whole thing mounted up to your bulkhead, i seem to remember there were two studs on the servo and two on the bulkhead on the Sierra so it should bolt up fairly easily.
Both cars are similar weight and weight distribution I would think so the set up should be a good match, you'd only need to mod your brake pedal to work the Sierra shaft.
You wont have interfered with any critical brake parts and as always the less you mod stuff the easier it is to get spare parts if it ever breaks.
