Aye up, I'm hoping the Benz W123 owners on here can help me with a little bit of info... I'm having a bit of a problem with my Mercedes W123 280E project, when I bought it, it didn't have any front springs. I've now stripped it out for track use, removed as much weight as possible. I'm thinking of cutting the Spax springs I've got for it, to get it lower, but seeing as it didn't have springs in the first place, I've got no point of reference for how high or low my car is, from standard ride height. So, can any W123 owners out there please measure from your hub centres, to your wheel arch lip, both front and rear and post it here please, along with wether or not you car is already lowered, so I've got some sort of idea of how much I've lowered my car. Any help will bd greatly appreciated... Cheers Frank.

This was mine: click mebefore (sky high) and after (much lower) cutting 2 and 3 coils from the front springs. Merc springs are crazily strong, take care fitting them! stripping it out won't remove all that much from the front as the engine is 95% of the weight!

Thanks guys, I'll be fitting the springs next week, and the 17" AMG's, then we'll see how low I can get it before PPC in the Park on May 19th.(Christ!! That deadline is getting too damn close!!)
I know it won't get as low as the sketch in my signature, but we shall see...

NOW YOUR TALKING!!! ;D Did the tyres rub much? I'll be running 225 45 17 tyres, I can't run anything smaller than 16" because they need to clear the 560SEC brakes that I've fitted up front.

This is mine (on air) The lowest point if the car, the exhaust, is about 1/8 or an inch off the ground and it rolls fine on very flat ground like a smooth motorway but theres almost no steering lock! About 1/4 of a turn either way before the tires start to foul the wings. As for chopping the springs on yours, just keep chopping until your happy with the ride/handling/comfort/looks. Theres no right or wrong amount to lower a car, just right for you.

Thanks, I think I'm going to fit the springs, and then start cutting half a coil at a time, and see how it goes. I'm going to use this as a track car, so I still need full steering without fouling.

Based on very rough measurements, I make this one 10.6" from the wheel centre to the arch. Found another low one: Specs according the Interweb BBS RS 023 16×8 +24 205/45/16 BBS RS 058 16×10 +11 245/35/16 Suspension Air suspension with Continental airbags, oil pressure shock absorbers

heres mine, cant remember how many coils i cut off as it was 7 years since i did it. on stock hats with 185/65s, i think on 16 x 8s with 205/55s front and 225/50 rears i couldnt run it with the fronts on 205s as it rubbed the arch going in a straight line. so i put the pentas back on my SEC and refitted the hats as per the first pic.
