Seem to have hit a bit of a hurdle already with the Hilux.
Curret load rating on the truck tyres is 98 front 106 rear. Now I can find tyres for the front no probs rear I'm getting near with 104 but the bigest issue I am finding is the alloy wheel load rating.
The truck weighs something like 1300kg unladen which is next to nothing - same as a e36 318is & I will never use it's 1 ton capacity but from what I'm reading the wheel/tyres have to be able to cope with the max load.
Anyone got any ideas if I can have the load capacity changed/run lower rated wheels without running into MOT/Insurance/legal issues?
Ta muchly if you can help.

I wouldn't have thought that getting load rated alloy wheels would be that hard? Is it 5 stud or 6 stud? If it's 6 stud, they make heaps of alloys for 4x4s that are load rated for more than you need. In Australia people with 5 stud Hiluxes often fit Ford Falcon wheels as they're the same PCD. The Ford Territory comes with 17" steel rims that fit as well. I realise that neither of these are probably available to you in the UK, but have a look around for some US Ford fitment stuff. I'm sure there must be a big heavy Ford with suitable wheels.

Thanks mate, you would think it would be simple.
I have emailed lots of companies so far, even billet wheel manufacturers and always seem to get a reply from the secutary telling me I need to buy comercial wheels not light weight racing wheels, dispite the fact that they have pictures of transists on them. All I need realy is some alloys that do not have a weight rating stamped into them, then I should just be able to stick the correct tyres on lol.
Going to keep an eye out for american rims I think.

die grinder with carbide burr/sanding barrel= problem solved. Thought never crossed my mind well, its exactly what id do. you know youre not go dumping 2 ton of sand/scrap/ballast/lithuanians in the back when its already dragging its , and anyone else with half a brain knows that too. these theoretical 'well youre not doing it right now, but you might do it when were not looking so we'll do you for it now anyways' laws that are creeping in really pi$$ me off. fair dos if you get caught massively overloaded, then they can do you. but hassling people for a theoretical 'crime' that they're not going to commit is just stupid. its like doing everyone for speeding if they have a car capable of exceeding the speed limit.
