yes bc my monza has ABS. striped the car down today and realised the extent of poor repairs this car has. the plates are barely welded on and puged in some places. after i removed the panel i found more horrors, yes that is tape you can see covering rusty holes. there are bolted and taped plates everywhere. not much left after i cut out the rot and s**t panels

I'm sorry to say I am not surprised at all.................
Seriously that is a good repair compared to some I've seen - common approach was to buy a repair panel sold by the ABS - completely ignore the advice to cut out the rot and then weld in the reapir panel - I've seen one repair pannel that wasn't even welded it just silicone sealant to stick it over the rot and a load of filler and paint over the top
Well done for getting stuck in with the cutting discs - get it back to good steel and take it from there - if you need any specific advice/help from me shout up - this thread is in my bookmarks

Phil has been on it like a hero this - properly on it. In other hands it could easily have been game over for this old stormer.. The pics really don't show how bad it was - the strut tips were (iirc) something like 55mm too close together, and it sat a LOT lower on one side.. All now sorted, in a weekend. (& the new wheels look AMAZE! )

nice work you replicated the original structure nicely - realy are a weak front end on these especialy when you slam them and end up on the bump stops - a strut brace would make a huge difference even if it's 1 inch box section welded in
Wheels look good - 17 inch? 205/50 17 front and 225/45 17 rear and looking at the pics you'll need some ghetto arch rolling with a hot air gun and a scafold pole

there 18 inch was going to fit 205/40 18. the rears look like they will tuck in ok, will find out later.

(This rot is also why I have never owned a Monza ) Love the repair work, a great and worthy save!

Agreed should be good for a fair few more years....

Boy I love these. I used to have an 85 GSE Reg no B444 ORF. But rust got the better of her. The lad that bought her off me said he was going to restore her and I often wonder if he did. I still miss this car. By the way I have a few Monza spares if your interested.
