Sorry if this has been covered before...
I've fallen madly in love with the Kadett Cs, both the Coupe and the 'Limo' as they seem to be called (but are still 2 door, small cars :S ).
I'm having real trouble finding info on them though.
What models were produced in the UK? What engines, suspension and drivetrain do they have? What is parts availability like? What PCD are the wheels ;D ? What are the known faults or rot places to look out for? And finally.... do they go for stupid money here?
I think that's it for now.

came in coupe hatch saloon estate and mad targa topped versions
engine would be 1200 pushrod ohv or 1.9 inj cih engines, 4 speed on the little getrag? 5 speed on the bigun 4x100 wheels rot everwhere a seventies car should, not as bad as others from the era tho and they seem to be fairly resonable price wise , a grand would get u a good un.
I'm sure more expert folks will be able to fill in the gaps

What engines, suspension and drivetrain do they have? What is parts availability like? What PCD are the wheels ;D ? suspension is double wishbone on the front, a bit like a cortina for example. rear is a live axle, trailing arms and a panhard rod. parts are easy, most stuff I believe is fairly interchangeable, stuff available all over the world, found a company supplying carbon fibre front ends, dash's and bootlids for coupes the other day. built on a "T" car platform available from brazil to australia, check out nitemaresracing's old kadett for ultimate interchanging. wheels are evervescent 4x100mm flavour. hope that fills in some of the blanks, not bad for a ford owner ;D

Unless you want a Coupe, in which case you'd be lucky to get a project for much less than that. As far as I know all UK spec cars would have had the 1.2 unit in as standard, but many have had transplants. The saloon and hatch were basically the same as the Chevette, but with a flat front, but with the Opel engine instaed of the Vauxhall one.

Thanks alot guys. To be honest, I'm less keen on the coupe, I really like the look of the saloon.
I'm considering, due to the lack of cars here, bringing one over from Germany, with all the right bits already on it. I've spotted some real corkers for around 2000-2500euros. Is that stupid?

Aaah. I think it's gonna have to be done lad! I've got a pretty sweet specced Mini thats nearly complete now, and they seem to be fetching a fair price tag atm. This coupled with a little money I can drag up from somewhere (not sure where, but I'll steal a few cars, rob a few grannies etc), should get me a nice Kadett I think. I've got my eye one this, to see how much a sweeet one goes for : I've looked into importing, and its mega easy from Germany. And although I'm a bit unsure about LHD, the car is cool enough to make up for it!

Right. For stuff such as adjustable coilovers, or even just dampers+springs..... will Chevette parts fit? And also, what engine/box choices do I have? Say, if I just baught a rolling shell, what would bolt straight in with minimal fuss? I don't mean XE engines or anything (although information on fitting one would be appreciated ), just 'normal' engines. Since I don't really know much about Opel/Vauxhall stuff, I keep thinking about Pintos. I bet a pinto would slot nicely in right? Or what about maybe using an XE with a Ford Type9 gearbox (of which I have laying around).

Why do you want to put a ford gearbox on a XE? Surely a getrag 240 box from a manta 1800 would be 100% better choice? As it fits it directly, and can take some abuse..

Like I say, I have no idea about Vauxhall parts. The only experience of XEs I've had, are seeing people put them in Fords ha.
So would an XE with 1800 Manta box fit ok in the Kadette, with home-made mounts? Transmission tunnel big enough etc?

Not sure if the tunnel is big enough.. Not that in on kadetts (i own one though, a 78, soon to be a 75 *hush hush*) Manta 1800 parts isnt that hard to get over here, but kind of pricey

Cool, i don't mind doing a bit of modifying to the shell, but would prefer not to go too crazy. (I'd prefer to buy a car with a sweet engine in already tbh)

The Ford type 9 box will take a lot more abuse than the manta 1800 getrag. Yukspeed do adapter plates to get it all to fit together, as well as a sump to fit. And as Tigran has said Manta 1800 bits are getting very scarce.
