I think it was Jonny69 who suggested that I might have a leak accross 3 of my carbs intake rather than just 1 so I've been investigating.
Here are some pics of the intakes from 1 to 4
as you can see the rubber on both adapters is pretty shot but no 1 is the worst with what looks like a big gap down the left hand side, while number 2 seems to be in the best shape, so I guess Jonny69 was right as I though this might be the leaky one but he though tit might actually be the good one!
Mananed to fix the stinky petrol smell by tightening all the fuel lines across the carbs (yes obvious) but they are also all lookiong abit past it so I need some new ones. Is rubber best or should I be splashing on some aeroquip or similar.
The carbs will have to come off to replace the rubber adapters, once I've found a set, probably from france!
It looks like this is going to be the cause of the idle probs and the colouration around 3 of the 4 trumpets.
On another plus point I tracked down the horrid metalic banging noise that aborted 2 of my 4 timed runs at the autotest the other week. The spark plug spanner, housed on two clips on the scuttle, had popped off under the bashing around that auto testing provides, snapping two of its mounting clips and had lodged itself down the side of the engine by the alteranter pully and belt. Could have been worse eh!
