Hi guys,
I brought this off here about a month or so ago. I needed something that was good on fuel and family sized. Also, I'd never owned a Mercedes and have always wanted one. It is a pretty nice car to drive, but I just can't put my finger on why I'm not keen on it.
Onto some details about it.
As the above says, it is a 1997, P reg, Mercedes C250D. Not too sure of the colour, but it's dark metallic blue. It has the 2.5litre 20v OM605 diesel engine which I have just serviced (correct grade oil, oil filter, air filter and fuel filter). I'm not too sure what the mileage is due to the clocks not working correctly. It is showing 176k, but I'd say it has more like 200k. Apart from one niggle which is below 1500rpm it chugs a little, it is a great, hard pulling engine. This engine will also run on cooking oil which was my plan to do. It has an automatic 4 speed gearbox. It's in good working order but the kickdown doesn't work. I haven't looked into wether it's the relay or the switch itself, but I phoned up my local Mercedes dealership and it's £18 for a brand new one. The backbox has also rotted off, so is currently running without it (although it is in the boot) and it isn't too bad. Can't hear it in the car at all.
The bodywork is pretty straight, but there are a few rust scabs here and there. There are a fair few scratches all around it though, looks as if it's been in a few car park fights and a cat has used it as a scratching post. Doesn't look too bad from a few feet away though. Wheels are in very good condition and the tyres have plenty of meat left on them.
The interior is pretty nice. Although there are a few marks on the seats, it could be worse for near enough white fabric. Drivers seat could do with a good scrub though. It has electric front windows, electric mirrors, electric sunroof all of which work. The only interior item that doesn't work is the speedo/odometer. Over the last few days, it has regestered for 6 miles and the speedo has worked, so probably just a loose connection. The indicator/wiper switch is compleatly knackered. When I brought the car, the stalk was covered in insulation tape and was a little loose, since then it's got looser and looser and how has compleatly broke meaning the wipers and indicator doesn't work unless you wiggle it round.
Right, here's the pictures:
I want £425 for the car with the tax included, or £325 without. I'm going to give it a week and if there is no interest, I'll cash the tax back in and weigh it all in, but I'll stick a breaking thread up, so if there are any bits you need, let me know.
