Hi all, I am quite new to this site and have absolutely loved looking at all your cars and threads. I purchased this W124 220TE manual about a year ago for the princely sum of £750. It had FSH and has now covered 196,000 miles. It has grey leather and is supremely comfortable. I have completed 14000 miles in it last year including a trip to Belgium and have had to spend about £700 keeping it in good condition. I have added some pics of a night time escapade for you to look at. Youngtimer alert..........hope you like.......If you ever get the chance own one....you wont regret it. Bye for now. see you at RR gathering in August. W124

Nice W124! Welcome to the forum. I've been looking into getting one of these to replace my Golf as a daily. Fantastically well built cars!

Always nice to see another recruit in the Benz Mafia Looks like a tidy purchase there. I'm still amazed by how comfortable these old Merc barges are. Aside from the front wing rusting, they are really well built

Great pics, Lowered wagon on "AMG Monoblocks" if thats what they're called looks amazing. Like the white one ^^. What is Benz Mafia. Can someone fill me in with the details is it a club or just a subdivision of retro rides. What do the stickers look like and where do I get them. Look forward to meeting you all at RRG.
Regards W124

those photos look ever better on the big screen, the black and white picture is great. as far as mods go i don't think the extremes of lowering and big camber would suit...id say poly bush to stiffen the ride up a bit.

Thanks for the comments on the photos, just for the record I am keeping it standard as I can. Its been like it for nearly 20 years so it would be a shame to alter it. Nothing stopping me getting another and having a stytlistic play.
Except Money...lol

I've got an s124 as my runaround, she's a 3.0 litre strait 6 diesel with a 5 speed manual, rolling on 18" monoblocs. I'd love to do some night pics like the ones in the first post, I've got 2 w124's and a clk so could do a lineup.

Loving the 3 litre straight with manual box ^^. I am thinking of doing a london night shot. Major landmarks, ace cafe and the graffiti tunnel if anyone is interested. I could probably get a pro photographer on board too(cheap or free). It would have to be a weekday poss wed pm. Any one up for it. Also an excuse for some munch (china town poss). Let me know.....or any locations worth visiting if I go solo. W124

Should be a W124 estate joining the ranks here soon, if we can find any diesel or one of the smaller engined petrol versions.

Should be a W124 estate joining the ranks here soon, if we can find any diesel or one of the smaller engined petrol versions. Don't discount the bigger engines, you may find they're more economical as they're working less and the straight six is silky smoooooooth I return a steady 30mpg in my 300 coupe on fairly average driving. Not racing, nor driving miss daisy, but just steady progress (if you can call 80mph on A roads and Mways private roads steady?!)

I bought a minor slammed E220 W124 Coupe back in 2001. Has some awful 15" alloys on it that were soon changed for 17" (might've been 16 though) MB 8 pots. Same silver from top to bottom. None of this two toned or black bumper bizzo. Looked the nuts.
Had that beauty for three years or so and apart from a (very costly) cat not long after I bought her, nothing to report in 50 thou + miles of motoring.
Never realised I was part of the in crowd at the time. In fact, though its stance looked the nuts, living in sarf Landin I was always a bit conscious of the fact I was probably noted down as the local dealer.
Have her back in a flash if I could.
