Right, garbled inquiry from my ol' man (who still hasnt given up buying half worn out tat and then refusing to give up on it when it breaks)
He has an import TD Previa thats boiled itself to death and he's attempting to revive it.
He's asked me to find out if its possible to get the head off without removing the supplementary drive shaft thats on the front of the engine.
I know how these are laid out but have never actually looked at one, he says he can't get the cam belt off without removing the driveshaft.
Any tips anyone?
I'm expecting Bortaf to come along and explain how it can all be fixed in 5 minutes with a bent fork, super glue and 6 50p pieces.

Neighbour had one (TD version) and found the big end & main bearings and crank knackered despite being low mileage and him first UK owner so could be worth dropping sump to check those as well. Maybe before money spent on head gasket ?

He will probably need a new head as they do crack and warp easly and he might aswell put a new belt on at the same time so it would be better to take a aux drive off. anyway the aux drive couplings wear out quick so best to change them. Then once you've done that you realise you've spent a small fortune on it and you may still have a car that has a cooling issue as they can have blocked rads and leaking heater rads. I'd weigh it in you'll get 200 quid for it and get another one.

Fail play, if he hasn't already done it you can lift the carpet up take drivers seat off and unbolt a big section of the floor makes it really easy to work on the engine

Please sir, step away from the Lucida, go home, have a cup of tea and relish a lesson well learned... If he's got to have one get a UK spec petrol one with log and a manual box... Made completely from unobtainium but by the time one comes along he may have talked himself out of it altogether.... Lol :-)

Seem to remember that all the ancillaries are mounted on a large horseshoe affair that are driven from the front shaft. Put mine up on the two poster and started to strip the front drive shaft out to do the cambelt but it turned out to be such a pig that we put it all back together again and i paid a socalled specialist to do it, this was where the problems began. They replaced the belt a tooth out and drove the car 25 miles back to my place with the management light on and rattling like a machine gun, tried to tell me it was on when they received it. I'm not a small bloke so when i got a touch loud about it they relented and recovered it to put right. Brilliant cars but a pain in the arris to do some jobs on.

You wanna try and do the shaft on a 4X4 version !! the frikken front diff is right in the way, usually you just unbolt the rad and the mount for all the pumps ect and pull it forward to get to the doughnut bolts but oh no not on a 4X4 version grrrr lol you need small hand for that one.
