the 411 failed the mot in some style! the electric continued there past trend of working one minute and not the next but most surprising of all, i was told that all repairs (unless its a whole panel) needs to be seam welded. Hence the areas that have been spot welded need to be redone. Ive never heard this before, has anyone else?
on the plus side, we were complimented on the panels that we had fabricated ourselves, and he said our chopped springs were done brilliantly!
still - i have a bucket load of work to do again
time to put the 411 away and get the benz on the road lol

Bummer, I hate MOT time I have heard people mentioning that seam welded rule before, IIRC if that part of the car was seam welded originally then any repair on it has to be seam welded as well? that's probably wrong though, sure someone else will know though.

yes, if it was seamed before then it needs to be seamed with the repair but i am talking about sections that were spot welded before, and I'm told now need to be seamed cos they arent a full panel

MOT wise repair panels must be seam welded, even if they were only spot welded from the factory. Of course, it all depends on the tester, when i've replaced panels like for like and spotted them they've been fine.... Stick at it

Yes they do indeed need to be seemed which is silly for a whole sill for instance. Best thing to do is to cover the welds with seam sealer to conceal it. As long as it's safe then I can recommend this

what Jonny said or filler and go elsewhere, if its safe no prob. annoying though!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Pretty sure thats the case with regards to the seam welding. It probably depends on the tester as to wether they pick up on it or not though but I always do that anyway though. When I was younger I didnt always though.
