In the 1970's Range Rover Employed Schuler Presses to create the Ultimate 2-Door Range Rover. These are in basic terms the First Ever Range Rover 'Overfinch' as Schuler soon became Overfinch in the 80's. This Is the Press Vehicle for Land Rover, One of The Prototype Schuler Super Rangers. It is all original, Including the Registration [BEN 331V] The Specification on the thing is huge... 3.7 V8 [3.5 Re-Bored] Ported & Polished, Ground Crank, Blueprinted. Coupled to a Chrysler Torque-flite Automatic Gearbox and Ferguson FF Transfer Box. This Range Rover comes with the full 'Rally' specification, Twin Rear Shocks, Skinny HD axles, 3.7 V8+Auto/Transfer combination, Vinyl Roof, Rally Dash pods, Twin Front lights, Oil coolers, Transmission Coolers, Wolf-Race Turbo-Vane Alloys, Plastic wheel arch 'Spats' & Electric windows... It was the first of it's time, a very rare vehicle. I have taken possession of the vehicle and begun it's long gruelling restoration when I find spare time. It needs extensive welding and bodywork but the engine runs sweet still after standing over seven years on a drive.  |

Hello mate, I sold a 4 door Schuler Super Ranger last year, I must admit it was the nicest range rover I've ever driven. It had all the original paperwork to. It had had all the suspension reworked and their special auto box and transfer unit, alas it had lost the worked V8 over the years. It really did corner and hold the road well.

Just a quick update, The Range Rover has now got manifolds and downpipes, It runs well and with a set of Rostyle wheels on it, I've been able to drive it! It is now moving! Slowly freeing off the autobox and brakes... That V8 sound is amasing from the Twin Carb 3.7 ;D   |

Gotta be honest they look pretty 'DIY' so i'm sure they can be dismantled with a few screwdrivers!!!!

Anyone got any idea on how to rebuild the headlight units on this? Do you mean the light boxes which are part of the body or something else? |

The headlight units for the front... All the screws were rusted and the bowls disintegrated... I need to know if they are genuine Land Rover items or just random parts...

I'm sure if you contact dunsfold they may be able to help you with info and stuff as they have factory prototypes and other rare stuff.

If you could take a few photos I might be able to identify the headlamps bowls etc.
If they are standard then they're just 7" bowls and lights as previously mentioned.
Paddocks etc will sell some plastic bowls to avoid the rot in the future.

The problem is the rather intricate setup behind the bowls which has partly rotted... I'll take some pictures soon... My guess is 7" Land Rover Headlights but then again i'm not too sure...

They'll just be 7" bowls and lamps, can't see them being much else! a bowl kit will come with all the 'intricate bits'  |

Don't the lamps have a maker's name on them, such as Lucas/Unipart/Cibie/Marchal, etc.?
You may be able to get away with washing out the reflectors with detergent...
I like the Wolfrace alloys - well worth refurbing.

Might be selling this if I get a decent offer. Don't think I'll have the time to restore it  It Starts, Runs and drives fine- though it could do with a tune up. It has no exhaust fitted from the downpipe so it's quite loud. To get it back on the road it will need a new rear floor and inner sills at least. Comes with the Turbo-Vanes and on a set of usable Rostyle wheels. Registration alone is highly valued. |
