Just had to get this one off my chest. My iphone accidently ended up in the toilet bowl a few days back, and despite being left in a sealed bag of rice and silica gel and rice for 3 days, completely died. Not one to give up easily, I borrow the fiance's hairdryer, eventually worked out how to use it, and proceeded to attempt a resuscitation. After about 20 minutes of gentle persuasion, the screen showed dead battery symbol. Continued efforts on and off over the next 24 hours, interspersed with lots of peculiar behaviour, freezing and general weirdness, eventually paid off.
The phone is now back and working 99% effectively and has done so for over 48 hours, with the exception of the power button, which is definitely no longer with us.
To say I'm pleased is an understatement. 12 months of photos which hadn't been backed up have now been saved, along with a huge list of phone contacts which were not written anywhere else. I also saved about £400 having to replace it.
Here's to those machines and devices which should have stopped working, but just wouldn't take no for an answer...
Maybe I should give it a Top Gear style destruction test in a few years, when it's reached the end of its useful life?!
